How to Make Low-Budget Dollar Tree Meals With Just $9
I’m going to show you how to make cheap Dollar Tree meals for my low-budget meal series. I’m going to start by making this low-budget meal for $9! (This is part of a new series where I choose a store and a dollar amount from a bowl.)
I’m not counting taxes in this meal because taxes are different for everyone, so we’ll stick with $9.00 pre-tax. I will only use either butter or oil from my pantry, but no seasonings from my kitchen. It will all be strictly Dollar Tree items (except for oil or butter).
Ingredients
Here’s what I bought on my shopping trip to Dollar Tree that totaled $9.00 pre-tax:
- 3 packages cheese ravioli
- John Morrell smoked sausage
- 1 can Prego Classic Alfredo Sauce
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 box Texas toast (6 slices)
I have never really eaten anything from a Dollar Tree cooler before. The store near me doesn’t have a refrigerated section so I went to one store a little further away.
The ravioli looks pretty good, just like the brand name packages. I bought the ravioli because pasta is so inexpensive and can stretch the budget and fill those tummies. Here’s how I cooked this meal:
1. Texas toast
I baked the Texas toast in my toaster oven. The box I bought at Dollar Tree was $1.25, which is great for six slices. The box at Walmart is over $2 for eight slices. This Dollar Tree box of Texas toast looks just like the other brands.
2. Sausage
I sliced up the sausage into coins. I fried up the sausage in my frying pan with a little oil.
3. Sauce
I then poured the can of Alfredo sauce into the pan. I added half a can of water, salt, and pepper and mixed everything.
4. Ravioli bake
I’m going to bake the whole thing. I put my frozen ravioli into a baking dish and set it aside. When the sauce and sausage were ready, I poured them into the baking pan over the ravioli and mixed them in. I let the ravioli bake for about 30 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. The result
I was able to fill five plates full of baked ravioli and sausage. This does not look like a meal that came from Dollar Tree!
My whole family thinks it tastes great, but I’m the real test because I’m more honest about my cooking. I tasted it and it’s the bomb! It does not taste like it came from Dollar Tree.

It may be cheap but it's terribly unhealthy! Saturated fat, chemicals, processed meat, sodium. Here's a list from the back of a jar of Alfredo sauce:

Almost all very bad for overall health. Try googling for recipes that are both healthy and inexpensive to prepare. The only winner here is the Sick Care system we call Health Care.
Sounds very heavy and fattening!
Loads of package food.
