Josh from Pro Home Cooks wants you to know that you don’t always need to splurge on takeout.

Sure, sometimes, you want to take it easy and take a night off from cooking. But, if you are looking to save money and eat better food, you can make an Italian feast at home for the same $21.35 you would spend having a Domino’s Pizza delivered to your doorstep.

Here’s how to cook that affordable feast!

$21,35 is more than enough to afford the following ingredients: A can of crushed tomatoes, penne, linguine, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, bacon, salami, tomatoes, carrots, kale, a baguette, a few servings of olive oil, several servings of red wine vinegar, broccoli, pepper, green beans, garlic, lemons, herbs, and ground turkey.

With these ingredients, you can make meatballs, pesto pasta, garlic bread, and kale salad. Let's get cooking!

To start, roast the garlic in the oven for 10-15 minutes, wrapped in tinfoil and seasoned with olive oil and salt. This will make it smooth, pungent, and buttery.

Meanwhile, get your tomato sauce on the stove. The longer you cook it the better it tastes. Saute minced garlic. Add black pepper, diced onions, and chopped carrots for sweetness.

Pour in the can of tomato sauce, along with water, fresh oregano, and salt, and bring the sauce to boil. After it boils, simmer it for as long as you can. Watch out for the splatters.

Cooking a meal

To make the meatballs, add diced onions, grated garlic, chopped oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese to the ground turkey.

Form the mixture into balls and lightly fry them in oil, just to brown the outsides. It’s okay if they aren’t cooked through yet.

For the pesto, you can make it cheaply by using broccoli as a base instead of basil. Blend oil, broccoli, parmesan cheese, lemon juice, basic, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon zest. It’s going to taste so creamy and fresh!

Take the browned meatballs out of the pan, and add the bacon. After rendering the bacon in the meatball oil, add cherry tomatoes, green beans, pepper, broccoli, and the linguine (just undercooked), alongside the pasta water that the linguine cooked in.

Pour some pesto in the pan and mix it up, and you have your first pasta dish ready to go!

Next for the salad. Juice the lemon into a bowl. Add red wine vinegar, olive oil, parsley, oregano, some of the roasted garlic, salt, pepper, shaved carrots, minced salami, and shredded kale. Toss the salad and dressing, and the dish is ready to go.

Cook the penne, in just enough water. When it cooks down, add the tomato sauce and the browned meatballs to the pot. Sprinkle in parmesan and fresh herbs and cook until the meat is cooked through. Enjoy the flavorful meatballs and penne.

The last dish for the feast is garlic bread. Spread the roasted garlic on one side of the baguette, just like you would spread butter. Sprinkle cracked pepper and parmesan cheese on top.

Top the other side of the baguette with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and salami. Cook at 400 degrees until the bread is nice and toasty.
