Much easier than caring for porcelain, stainless steel sinks don’t come with all the extra problems you’d find with white sinks like scratching and staining.
And that’s a huge plus because it makes it that much easier to keep your stainless steel sink looking fresh and new for years after it has been installed.
The best way to clean a stainless steel sink, according to Tawra, is to make a paste of Comet and water.
The benefit to using this particular product is that it has bleach in it so you get the added benefit of disinfecting your sink while you clean it.
Another option when it comes to deciding what to use to clean a stainless steel sink is to use baking soda and vinegar.
Tawra does admit, though, that vinegar does not disinfect as well as bleach even though the internet would have you think otherwise. She says that the health department told her it has about 80% of the disinfecting power of bleach.
To show you the results of both, Tawra cleans her sink with the Comet and water paste on one side and the baking soda and vinegar solution on the other side using a clean washcloth.
She recommends getting a new washcloth out daily as sponges tend to carry and spread germs.
