Many working moms find it challenging to keep their home clean and organized. However difficult it is though, it is not impossible, and there is no need to opt for any elaborate measures to keep your home clean. In fact, you can accomplish so much in 20 minutes a day or less. You have to keep in mind that to clean your house efficiently, you need to develop a proper schedule. Below are a few tips that will help you do just that.

CREATE A PROPER CLEANING SCHEDULE

If you only spend a few minutes here and there every day cleaning your house, you will never get on top of things. Creating a proper cleaning schedule is essential. You can create a plan according to the room which you want to clean first and after that proceed to clean your whole house. When you have a proper schedule, it will be easier for you to arrange your other tasks accordingly. It will ensure that, after a few days, it will become second nature.

We understand that you are busy, so twenty minutes a day should be enough if you use the time well, and don’t procrastinate or dilly dally over things. If you organize your time well and create a schedule, you will make tidying up a must. An example schedule that may help you to organize your cleaning and help you to tidy your house more effectively may look like the below.

Here is an example Schedule – Between these times, make sure that you pick up any mess, and put things away in their right place.

Monday – 7:00 PM – 7:20 PM – Vacuuming downstairs

Tuesday – 7:40 PM – 8:00 PM – Mopping the kitchen and wooden floors

Wednesday – 8:00 PM – 8:20 PM – Dusting

Thursday – 7:00 PM – 7:20 PM – Vacuuming upstairs

Friday – 8:40 PM – 9:00 PM – Wiping down surfaces

Saturday – 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM – Cleaning the windows

Sunday – 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM – Cleaning the bathrooms

Reduce the need for cleaning

When your possessions are out in the open, they accumulate dust and other contaminants, which will mean you need to clean more often.

On the other hand, when you store them away, your home will be easier to clean. Keep everything in its correct place: put your shoes in a cupboard, your socks in a drawer, and your books, CDs and DVDs on a shelf. You could even use a system to organize your home and tidy up proposed by Marie Kondo, who advocates that you use the ‘ Marie Kondo method’ to declutter your home and your life, which involves putting everything in its place, and not having possessions that don’t ‘spark joy.’

Make a start

Sometimes, your home might be in such a mess that it is difficult to understand where you should start. The place that I like to start in is the bedroom, as I spend more time than perhaps anywhere else, and subsequently, I can move on to the other rooms.

However, it doesn’t matter where you start, just that you do: if you make a start, you will get momentum. This will allow you to build steam and will help you to get your house clean even if you are not in the mood. What’s more, the sense of satisfaction after you see the first room clean will be palpable.

Get some extra hands

You can always get some help from your kids. You can delegate them the smaller tasks like unloading the dishwasher or picking up the mess in their rooms. It will allow them to learn the importance of cleanliness, and not to take a clean home for granted: as you will know, this is an incredibly valuable lesson.

Use the gadgets

If you do each and everything manually, it will take you an extended period to clean your home. It is important to use vacuum cleaners or other gadgets to your advantage. Just make sure that you choose the vacuum cleaner that is most appropriate for the floor in your home. If you are looking for a vacuum for a wooden floor, for example, search for the best vacuum for hardwood floors. There are even automated vacuum cleaners, and other gadgets, available these days. If you use appropriate gadgets in your cleaning regime, then it will surely be quicker and more efficient.

Don’t worry if sometimes you can’t spare the time.

If you find it difficult to spare 20 minutes at a time, you can even divide those 20 minutes into two different sessions of 10 minutes each. This will allow you to spend those 20 minutes per day more efficiently.

Over a while, you will form a habit of dedicating more time for cleaning. Sometimes you may even not be able to make the time; for example, you may have to stay late at work. Don’t worry about this, as long as it doesn’t become a habit.

So, when it comes to keeping your home clean in spite of your busy schedule, the above advice may help. Even busy moms can make enough time by following these simple tips, which can be integrated into even the busiest life.
