File Folding Clothes 101: How to Better Organize Your Drawers
Hey, y’all! It’s time for another video. The title says that we are going to be file folding clothes. That is exactly what we’re going to be doing. Let’s dive in.
Folding shirts
Let’s fold a shirt. When you’re folding a shirt with a print, make sure it goes face down in front of you.
Then, you’re going to fold one side of the shirt and tuck in the sleeves about halfway.
Repeat that on the other side.
Now, you’re going to notice that you have a perfect rectangle. This is going to be the width of your fold.
Fold it up three quarters of the way.
Then, you’re literally going to fold it in half twice.
Now, you have a perfect file fold and it stands up.
Folding pants
There are a couple of ways to fold pants when file folding clothes. I’m going to show you one.
Go ahead and lay your pants on a flat surface. You’re going to fold one side over the other.
Go ahead and fold the crotch part in so you have that perfect rectangle.
You can bring the legs up to the waist.
Again fold it in thirds.
That’s it. You have a perfect file fold that will stand up.
Folding a long-sleeved shirt
Folding a long-sleeved shirt is the same as folding any other shirt. You want to make sure that if there’s a pattern, you put it face down.
Then, you’re going to fold one half to the middle of the shirt and tuck the sleeve in.
Then, you’re going to repeat that on the other side. Again, the width of this rectangle is going to be the width of the shirt when you file it.
Fold the bottom part three-quarters of the way.
Fold it in half twice.
There you have it. The perfect file fold. It will stand up for you in the drawer.
Folding scarves
Now, I’m going to show you how to fold a scarf. As you can see, this is a pretty long scarf.
Go ahead and fold it in half.
The goal when file folding clothes is to get a decently-sized rectangle, so I’m going to fold this again because it’s too wide.
Then, I’m going to fold it in half again, so I have the perfect rectangle for the width of this fold.
Fold it about three-quarters of the way up.
Fold in half twice.
Now, again, you have the perfect file fold.
Folding socks
I fold my socks as opposed to rolling them up because rolling them messes with the elasticity. It’s just a matter of folding them in thirds. Then I stuff them into the organizers.
Folding sets
I’m going to show you how to fold sets, like pajama sets or casual sets, together. You’re going to make a rectangle with the bottoms.
Then, you’re going to take the shirt and roll it into the bottoms.
Now, you have a set together. This is really helpful for pajamas, especially for your littles.
File folding clothes
I use the file fold method to organize my clothing in my drawers. I hope y’all learned something about file-folding clothing. How do you store your clothing? Leave a comment and let us know.
