4 Tips on How To Redecorate Farmhouse Style On A Budget

Farmhouse style decor is everywhere right now. I myself live on a dirt road in rural upstate NY, and love anything “country,” so I’m in love with this current trend!

But I’m pretty sure whether you live on a dirt road or in a suburban cal de sac, Joanna Gaine’s farmhouse style has become the forefront in current decor trends.

One of my ongoing themes here on Happy Deal – Happy Day is that you don’t need to pay full price to have a great life. In fact there are ways in all avenues of life where we can live frugally – but also happily and in-style as well!

Today I’m going to share with you 4 tips on how to redecorate farmhouse style on a budget. No need to break the bank on keeping your home up-to-date!
Don’t spend a fortune on flooring

this idea

Flooring can be a very expensive part to redecorating or fixing up any room. In fact, it can be the most expensive part if you are not replacing furniture.

Everyone loves traditional hard wood floors because they are timeless and can last generations. But authentic hard wood floors are not in everyone’s budget.

There are some amazing vinyl flooring options that look just as nice as hard wood floors that cost half as much or less!

To see different types of connection types and colors for vinyl flooring go over to this site with a wide selection of different vinyl’s.

I’m personally a fan of click vinyl as it is easy to install. There are some great styles on sale right now over on Home Depot!

Buy Sturdy Shelves & Fill Them Inexpensively!

I recently got these floating shelves over on Amazon. They are nice and sturdy and have the great farmhouse rustic feel to them. I did pay $25 for them, but I think that is an ok price for something that will stay on my walls for a decade or more. Now what goes on the shelves, especially if it is strictly for decor, I do not spend a lot of money on.

For example, I got the frame on the top left at Pier One a long time ago (it was on clearance) for I think less than $5.

The little fake grass in the pot I got at Michaels last month for $3 (with a 50% off coupon.)

The top right vase was a yard sale find I think I paid less than $1 for.

The patterned bowls was a Christmas Tree Shop find a few years ago for $1.

The bird on the lowest shelf was a gift from my mom.

The Flowers & Garden metal container I got at the Dollar Tree last month for $1.

I dried out my own hydrangeas from my own garden last fall, so for me they were free.

I spent under $15 total to fill these floating shelves!

Make Your Own Farmhouse Wall Decor.

When I am shopping around places that have some great decor items, like at Michaels, A.C. Moore, or Joann Fabric, I often times take pictures of items I see that I could actually make myself for less cost.

Here are 3 farmhouse decor items that I have made, very frugally, to give you some more inspiration.

Don’t be afraid to paint old furniture

Check out these 9 projects I did to re-decorate my guest room – which involved repainting a bed and dresser to match the farmhouse style decor.

Here is a picture of just one of the projects where I painted and distressed a hand-me-down old desk that we got for free. I spend about $20 in paint and new hardware to give it a new life:

I’d love to hear from you in the comments on ways you have saved money when redecorating farmhouse style on a budget!

Couldn't agree more, living well has less to do with how much one spends than how creative one can be. Painting almost every piece of my parent's furniture has saved me a small fortune, kept memories alive and given my hone a truly unique style.
