Diedre from Our Upcycled Life knows the secrets to completing a dining room makeover on a very tight budget. Using her expertise in upcycling, thrifting, and finding free stuff, she shows you how to do a budget dining room makeover everyone will think you spent a fortune on.

Of course, the fun part of projects like this is the dining room makeovers before and after photos. So, don’t forget to take a quick picture before you get started. Then, you’ll be ready to implement the dining room makeover ideas Diedre has thought up for you.

First, she says to remove all furniture and decor items currently there to free up the space. If necessary, now is the perfect time to give this room a fresh coat of paint.

Next, she says to clean the room from top to bottom, dusting and vacuuming as needed. If you have new window treatments, go ahead and hang those up now. In her video, Diedre reuses window treatments she already had on hand.

Then, she moves furniture into the room, including a large hutch that she was given for free, and decided to change up with a satin enamel paint in a bold color palette. She also spray-painted the hinges and knobs for an updated look.

After finding an old window more than 10 years ago, and purchasing it from the owners for $50, Diedre hangs it on the wall as decor. And she hangs homemade sconces on either side of it for extra lighting.

Since she hates the current look of her dining room pendant light, she shows you how to spray paint your own to give it a modern aesthetic.

Her dining room makeover is then completed by styling the space with items from around her home and recent purchases.
