Thrifted Unique Containers For Flowers and Greenery Ideas
There are so many fun and unique containers that you can use for flowers that will make your arrangements stand out from the crowd. Today I’m sharing a collection of flower container ideas that you can find at thrift stores, flea markets and even on the road side. Add unique containers for flowers all around your home and fill them with greenery, faux and real flowers.
What Unique Containers Can You Find At Thrift Stores?
This is one of my favorite things about shopping thrift stores. You can find so many unique containers that are perfect for holding flowers and greenery. Containers that are missing a lid, damaged or even chipped will look expensive when filled with lovely flowers. Damaged items are always great finds because they are usually inexpensive.

Thrifted Containers For Flowers
This unique tureen is one of my favorites. It was missing a lid and therefore was only $2.00.
It’s a beautiful piece with gold leaf and makes a perfect container for this purple violet. It works well with the updated thrifted lamp.
Another fun flower container ideas is this galvanized and green artillery shell looks perfect filled with faux roses on the screened porch.
In addition, it look great with greenery especially at Christmas.

Do you collect vintage picnic baskets? This thrift store find is perfectly aged and although probably not sturdy enough for an actual picnic, it’s perfect as a unique container for flowers.
Basket Container For Flowers
In addition to the picnic basket, use thrift store baskets to make for lovely flower containers.
The unique shape of this basket makes it perfect for a dried flower arrangement.
This summer centerpiece combines real hydrangeas with a faux fern inside a handcrafted basket. You can see how to easily add real flowers to a basket at Easy Hydrangea Basket Tutorial.
Another fun basket idea is this woven market bag filled with faux peonies and hydrangeas. It hangs on the vintage door at the end of our hallway.
One of my favorite thrift store finds was this huge basket that I’ve filled with faux greenery.
My friend Stacy at Bricks N Blooms found this adorable baby stroller and used it as a unique container for flowers on her porch. What a clever idea.

Use Greenery In Unique Containers
I spotted this vintage rolling shopping cart for only $14.00 at a consignment shop and home with me it came. I’ve been playing around with different ideas to display it but finally decided these wispy moss stems let the carts metal frame shine.
The rusty paper roller has held everything from Easter eggs to Christmas ornaments. For summer I added a few pieces of greenery and ceramic white birds.
Thrifted milk glass is another great thrifted container purchase. I have several pieces from simple bud vases to larger containers for flowers.
Another great container idea is these repurposed sap buckets made into wall planters. The trio hang on an old shutter and their contents change seasonally. Boxwood is a great container filler and stays looking fresh for months. Check out how to keep greenery fresh longer for additional tips.
Don’t throw away those tuna cans but paint them for a unique flower container idea. Here I’ve just added some boxwood stems to a black tuna can. You can see additional ways to decorate with free items on this post.
