How to Easily Turn Yard Sale Trash Into Treasure

Deidre from Our Upcycled Life is sharing her latest trash to treasure upcycles: she is decorating with yard sale finds that she got for really cheap. Let’s take a look at a couple of projects of hers.

Two of Deidre’s yard sale finds were a glass vase and a glass candle holder. She decided to combine the two in an amazing decorative project.

She put the two pieces together with Gorilla Super Glue, used black spray paint on the inside of the vase, covered it with Mirror Effect in several layers, and sprayed a solution of 50% vinegar and 50% water over it. Deidre says that the spray paint on the inside will make the vase withstand a bit of water.

For a ladle that she also found at a yard sale, Deidre took a raw-edged piece of wood, sealed it with polyacrylic sealer, and nailed the ladle to the wood with fencing hooks. She hung the wood on her wall and put a candle in the ladle, which made for an amazing piece of home decor.

Next, Deidre got a wooden tray and gave it a farmhouse look. To do that, she painted it black and then scraped on the paint to distress it. She then used a peel-and-stick floral shelf liner on the bottom of the tray.

Finally, she got a rolling pin, painted the handles, applied a graphic using her polyacrylic transfer method, and displayed it in her kitchen.
