Deidre shows us how to upcycle thrift store finds and turn them into beautiful, modern home décor.

She reveals some tricks with her most recent upcycle projects to give us inspiration and ideas. Upcycling thrift store purchases gives her a chance to give old items new life, while simultaneously stimulating creativity.

Her first project is updating an old vase. She decides to give the vase a new color and texture with some homemade sand paint. She makes the sand paint by simply mixing sand into her paint.

After the first layer of paint dries, she dabs on a second layer to add more texture. She seals the paint with a polyacrylic sealer.

Revamping thrift store finds to match your home décor is such a breeze with just a simple color change.

A gorgeous vintage glass light fixture without a base makes for a great project. She happened to have another base with a light fixture in it.

She adds some double sided tape to hold everything in place as the fit is not exact. She found another glass light fixture. She turned that one upside down to transform it into a beautiful planter.

For another upcycling project, she takes a sprig of synthetic greenery and brushes the leaves with white paint to give it a more modern look.

Placing them in a small, thrifted vase, the combination makes a beautiful high-end look, for almost no cost at all.

Shopping second hand instead of buying new is a smart choice for so many reasons.

It’s a great way to find unique items you won’t see in other people’s homes.

It’s also an eco-friendly option because it helps reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our landfills.

Getting creative is also a very gratifying way to pass the time!
