I love books! Specifically, I love children’s books and as a homeschool mom, I have a lot of books. Since we have lived in so many different houses, I’ve had to get creative with my child book storage ideas. Home organization is kind of a big deal If you’ve found yourself with lots of books and need some fresh ideas, check out these fun storage solutions for kids books!

Children’s Books Storage Solution

I have definitely had to learn how to manage lots of books being scattered all over our house. As a homeschool mom, we have a huge quantity of books and book organization is a big deal! Because of that, I’ve gotten creative with the different ways we store our kids’ books!

Here are some of my favorite book storage ideas!

Book Bins

For starters, I love using book bins! I have two of these book bins you see in the picture above. I use one book bin for my toddler and her board books, and another book bin for our homeschool related books, aka our book basket. I keep both of these book bins in our living room so they are easily accessible to my kids.

Book Baskets

Speaking of baskets; I keep book baskets all around my house. The one you see above is my own personal mother’s basket. It includes all of the books I’m currently reading, as well as other little projects I may be working on.

We also have a specific morning basket for our homeschool. It tends to change every six weeks based on our morning time plans and what we are learning about! I enjoy using wire baskets for our morning time books.

Book Sling

Who could discount a simple book sling for children’s book storage? These are great for adding to your child’s bedroom, or they can be used in a playroom if you have one!

Storage Cart

Our homeschool rolling cart is one of my most favorite purchases ever. I can fit quite a few books in it, too, so it’s great for storing both picture books and craft supplies. It’s just a great solution for book storage and for storing other things.

Book Crate

Do you have stacks of books sitting around your house? A great addition to your book storage collection are book crates. These are great for storing large books, as well as book collections that you would like to keep together.

Book crates are also great for small space storage. You can easily pick them up and move them around whenever you need to make some room.

Simple Shelves

I’ll never get over the simplicity of wooden shelves. I have shelves upon shelves in my library at our house in Alabama, and I absolutely miss that room so much! We did remove two of the shelves in that room for my desk, and we brought those shelves to our rental house. I have a little piece of my home here, and I’m able to store many of our homeschool books on just those two shelves.

Creative Book Storage Ideas

Whether you have a ton of books, or a smaller selection book lovers are always on the lookout for a simple storage solution for their stacks of books. I’ve pulled together some creative book storage ideas down below. Some of them are really cute!

Children’s Bookcases

How adorable is this bookcase? If you’re looking for creative ideas to display your child’s books, bookcases like these are a great option! I think this would look so cute next to a cozy reading nook, or in a playroom next to a reading corner.

Book Sling + Extra Storage

When I think of children’s books, I often think of a book sling. These were in my school and I’ve wanted to purchase them for my homeschool, as well. This particular book sling offers additional toy storage. It’s just perfect for little hands to reach for their own books.

Ikea Spice Racks

Ikea spice racks have gained popularity as bookshelves over the years. They are a great way to display books if you don’t have a lot of floor space. I think this is a fun idea for kids book storage. These racks are from Amazon if you don’t have an Ikea local to you.

Toy + Book Storage Box

This is one of the cutest storage hacks. This toy box with additional book storage is so cute. I just love the white finish and the easy access to the books. This is a great option for placing your bedtime books and it’s the perfect size for a child’s room.

Rain Gutter Book Shelves

My husband and I made these DIY rain gutter book shelves for my homeschool space in one of our previous homes. It was a fun DIY project and a simple way to display small collections of books. I liked to place the books for my little kids on the lower shelf and the books for my older kids on the upper shelf.

Book Caddy

How adorable is this book caddy? I can just see little ones curling up next to it to find the perfect picture book. This book caddy would look perfect in any spot in the house!
