I used them as a riser for my glass pieces and a simple rose a top of these old books. Since I do not have the library of my dreams, nor room for a bookshelf, I decided I will sprinkle bits of my books throughout our home. Books can serve multiple purposes in our homes.
- We can store our sheets under the bed
- How we can use a punch bowl for storage
- Adding a simple hook can provide a place for miscellaneous items
- A simple pot can hold all of our wrapping paper
- Books, they can be décor, risers, items we can read, or whatever we need them to be

When we created a narrow walk-in closet, I upgraded my laundry baskets to slimmer, wider baskets that would take up less real-estate on the closet floor. The older, deeper laundry basket became the perfect place to store wrapping paper!!! I use an underbed 1/2-sized tote (it's about half the size, lengthwise, as one meant for, like, off-season clothing!) for ribbons, bows, bags, tape, and a pair of scissors. Easy to pick up the whole basket to transport up the stairs from the basement, and it's all contained in one place (rubber bands are your friends, keeping the rolls tight!) - especially the little blue ones from produce at Walmart - they're thin, super-stretchy, and don't mar the paper!!. Love when folks share ideas for "shopping their home" for solutions they may already have when they just think a bit outside of the box to re-imagine!!! Thank you for sharing!!! ~Chrissie
I like to recycle mason jars as storage for anything from dried goods to my colorful crafting stones. It's fun to decorate the jars to fit your themes. I made one to store my red sea glass and gave it a dark, gothic style label I created and printed off my computer. I decoupaged the label to the front, hot glued some colored rope to the lid and called it Dragon's Heart. Now it's a nice Halloween decoration/display object, and my stones aren't hidden away in a box anymore.
They're great storage for screws and nails, rice, beans and pasta, buttons, marbles, you name it.
The lids can be screwed to the underside of shelves and cabinets to add extra storage space.
Paint on food coloring added to glue to give them a fancy stained look.
The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
