When Was the Last Time You Decluttered Your Purse? Be Honest.
As part of a five-day declutter I'm doing, I'll show you how to declutter your purse. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to declutter an area of my life that is small in size but significant in junk value, my handbag. I'm concerned about what I'm going to find here.
Get comfortable
I knew I would need to sit on the floor to empty all of this out. I chose the room that has carpet and feels the most comfortable. I haven't emptied this purse since I got back to the UK last June. I've been taking it back and forth to work and throwing random stuff into it, which is making it heavy.
I'm carrying it around work every day and thinking that all I use at work is my phone, my lunch, and a water bottle. None of those things are in here right now. So why is it so heavy? We're about to find out.
What my purse contains
First things first, popcorn.
Because you never know when you need popcorn.
So a lot of snacks. A lot of snacks from last week's lunch at work that I apparently didn't eat.
Face mask, face mask, face mask, face mask. A bunch of cutlery.
A selection of winter accessories.
Many tissues, many post-it notes, many tiny pieces of paper. My purse has so much junk in it.
The weird thing is there actually isn't that much in here, so I don't understand why it was so heavy. There is a lot of really unnecessary and, quite frankly, gross stuff in here, like bits of melted chocolate, tissues, and many post-it notes. There is a button that I don't even know what it goes to.
Sorting all out
Having soldiered through all the stuff that was in that bag, I can confirm there was a lot of junk: junk tissues, chocolate, and disposable masks.
Next, I'm figuring out what actually belongs in the bag and can go back into the bag.
I have disinfectant wipes.
I have my rescue remedy because I have to have one of these available to me at all times. I have my spare charger and a spare face mask, and that's all. Everything else needs to go back to where it came from or in the bin.
How to declutter your purse
Now, this thing weighs nothing.
We managed to get rid of about 5 pounds worth of stuff out of my purse. So that's got to be good for my back when I'm carrying that thing around.
