Do you live in a home that is on the smaller side and simple in its design and decor? Do you watch shows like Fixer Upper and just wish for some tips on how to make your home more classy and luxurious? Here are 7 tips on how to upgrade your home decor from just simple to classy and luxurious. The best news is that you can do this on a budget, and don’t have to spend a fortune on hiring interior designers or spending a fortune on new furniture!

1. Work On Your Window Treatments

The right window treatments can magically transform your space from simple to luxurious. Start by replacing your current curtains with full-length curtains that touch the floor (if you have short curtains). Additionally, consider placing the curtain rods higher to make your ceilings appear higher. A great place to find curtians and window treatments on a budget is Walmart or Ollie’s!

Even if you can’t afford heavy fabric curtains, you can get organza curtains that will add a pop of color to your room. Check out how I did that in my guest room over here!

2. Upgrade Your Furniture

Upgrading your furniture can never be left out when you want to make your home luxurious. If you have outdated, simple furniture, consider replacing them with modern and high-quality ones. Check out what this high end furniture store in Los Angeles has to offer for inspiration. Don’t want to spend a fortune? No worries! If your budget doesn’t allow you to make a complete furniture makeover at once, you can get a few things at a time until you replace everything that you need to. Also, regularly check out Facebook Marketplace for used furniture that you want to use as an upgrade! You can get fantastic deals on used furniture that looks just as high-end as getting something brand new from a high end furniture store!

3. Hang Mirrors

Mirrors are very good at making spaces feel larger. Additionally, they also enhance the lighting of a house. Mirrors reflect any light that hits them, making the room appear brighter. For this to be effective, hang mirrors across a window or near it.

Mirrors are available in various sizes, designs and price points over on Amazon. Just choose the ones that suit your preference and fit your space properly.

4. Don’t Forget the Outdoor Area

When it comes to upgrading your home, you are not restricted to the indoor area only. If you have a backyard, you can make use of it and take your home to the next level. You can do something as simple as building a patio and filling it with beautiful pieces of furniture. Or build a small pergola on your deck and add some outdoor lighting! I used Luminara lanterns and candles on a plant stand. Then I used solar string lights on top of the pergola, along with a Moroccan Hanging Solar Lantern Behind this pergola is a small patio where our hot tub is. Having these solar lights on just makes a much more relaxing outdoor environment when enjoying spring nights in the hot tub! Plus we will just enjoy entertaining on our deck all summer long!

5. Upgrade The Flooring

If your home has a traditional flooring or one that is worn out, you can change it and upgrade to a modern flooring option. Also, if you have a carpet, replacing it with tile or hardwood can greatly transform your space. You can also consider other flooring materials for your space to give it a new look, including tile and laminate. I have a home outlet store near my house where you can get discount flooring for a significant discount for items that there isn’t much square footage left to sell. But it may be the perfect amount for what you need for your room!

6. Add Some Houseplants

Adding house plants is another effective way of making your home luxurious. The secret here is filling some empty corners with large house plants. However, you need to be careful with houseplants to prevent them from. Water them adequately and ensure they get enough sunlight. The willow bonsai pictured above you can get for less than $20 on Amazon!

You can also place these plants on the window sills or shelves. Only a little bit of creativity is needed here. However, if you don’t have a green thumb, you can always go for fake flowers. They create an illusion of live flowers and save you from all the hassles of taking care of live houseplants.

7. Install An Electric Fireplace

Installing an electric fireplace is another way of adding luxury to your home. It not only enhances the appearance of a home but makes it warmer during the cold seasons. There are several types of fireplaces available, from electric fireplaces to wood and gas fireplaces. Consider your budget and preference when choosing one for your home.

If making your home luxurious is something you have always wanted to do, now you have some ideas. You can seamlessly turn your house into your dream home by replacing some features and adding others. You only need to set up a budget and some time to shop for what you need.
