8 Simple & Frugal Money-Saving Tips For 2023

I’m going to talk about eight frugal money-saving tips. I’ve started doing a few of these frugal tips over the past few months and they’re so easy! You’ll see a difference in your wallet even if you use a couple of these frugal tips and tricks.

1. Coupon apps

Use your free money-saving coupon apps. I have a new favorite. It’s called Moolah. It’s free and it automatically applies coupons for you when you’re online shopping. It finds the best one for you at checkout.

You don’t have to go to this website, that website, searching here, searching there – just to come up empty-handed with coupon codes. Moolah finds them for you and helps you save money.

Google Chrome and Safari allow you to add Moolah as an extension to your browser in seconds. It pops up in the corner of your screen with your coupons. It is so easy to use.

Moolah partners with over 350,000 online stores. I’ve used Moolah on Shein, AliExpress, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Macy’s. The best thing about the app is that they have a higher success rate on its coupons. When you hit $10 in rewards you can cash out into your Paypal account.

2. Prep your produce

As soon as you get home from shopping, immediately wash, prep, and store your produce properly. It will have less of a chance of going bad when you wash and store it correctly.

It also helps when you don’t feel like cleaning, prepping, chopping, and dicing food for dinner when you’re tired. That saves you money because you’ll use up your produce faster and it won’t go to waste.

3. Piggy bank

This is not just for kids! Use a Tupperware container or bottle and throw your change, even your pennies, into it and watch over time, you’ll have a bunch of money. It adds up!

Do you know how many times we’ve used our stash of change that we keep in a big cheese ball container? It paid for stocking stuffers, Easter baskets, and other gifts.

4. Yard sale

Purge and have a yard sale. We do this every year. We have a rule. If you haven’t touched something in six to nine months, especially if it’s been over nine months? It’s going into a yard sale.

Price everything low to give people deals and you’ll have pocket change. My family and I get together and have a yard sale every year and we pocket no less than $250 each.

5. Winterize

This is my husband’s favorite thing to do to save money. He winterizes the windows and doors around our house every summer and winter.

He puts plastic over the windows and rubber weatherstripping around doors and windows in the summer and winter to save money. It keeps cold air out in the winter and hot air out of our house in the summer.

6. Potluck dinners

I know everyone likes to go out and have fun with friends and family. I have found a way to do that and still enjoy that time with each other but not have to spend a lot of money going out to eat.

Have a potluck dinner. Everyone brings a cheap dish. That’ll save you money.

Using a crockpot to save money

7. Use a crockpot

Summertime is coming up. When it is crazy hot outside, don’t use your oven, use your crockpot. It won’t heat up the kitchen and it won’t stress the air conditioning. It saves so much money.

I looked at our electric bills this year and last year when I didn’t do this. The bill was $50 to $60 dollars cheaper.

8. Shop around

Store brands are not always cheaper! Look around before buying. For instance, Walmart’s brand of pepperoni is more expensive than Hormel’s brand of pepperoni, at least at my store. So, don’t automatically assume store brands are the lower-priced brands.

Frugal money-saving tips

Those were my eight frugal tips for 2023! I hope they can help you save money. Which ones do you think you might try? Let me know if you’ve tried Moolah, by the way! How much do you save?
