Let's talk about the side hustles for 2023 that you can set up and make money alongside your full-time employment, parenting duties, or studying.

This is about side hustles that you can do in your own time, where you can set your schedule, you have your flexibility, and you can set your own working hours, and they can be used to make you earn extra money.

1. Remote typist

This is something that we use in my business. When my business gets to a point where the staff can't manage the typing work being turned out and the staff is getting behind, we outsource this to remote typists.

If you have a skill and can type, can use your computer, can type quickly, and have some free time, this is a perfect option to set up as a side hustle.

There are probably aspects where you can do this more locally. Where we get the typists that we use on a remote basis, it's done more locally. We can access websites, postings, and agencies to get details of people who do that, and then we pay them directly. The agency takes a small fee for putting us in line with that person. The person that's doing it is earning a decent income.

2. Dog walker

I have four dogs, a business, two children, and a busy life. So we can't always get to do as much dog walking as we need. We use dog walkers in the local area that come and take our dogs.

They take the dog, and they walk them. They do it whenever it suits them throughout the day. We don't set the time as long as it's done throughout the day.

3. Gutter and bin cleaner

We pay somebody to come and clean our bins out, and we pay somebody to clean our gutters out. That might not sound like the most glamorous of jobs, but because it's not the most glamorous, we pay somebody a decent amount to come and power wash out the outside bins.

That's something that I'm happy to pay somebody to do, and they do it as a side hustle on top of their employment.

4. Reselling

This is something that I used to do whenever I was very low on money. I would first go through my own house and wardrobe and see what I could sell on eBay or now Facebook Marketplace. You can also follow those pages that advertise people who are, for example, moving house and want to clear the furniture out of the house by giving it away.

You can follow those sites, go and collect what they're asking to be removed, and probably resell almost all of it at a decent price.

5. Content writer

I used to do this myself whenever I was younger in my business. I used to help other businesses with content writing websites, blogs, and advertising material for their businesses. I used to help them to write the script for those, and I got paid to do that.

I could fit it around setting up my own business and fitting in my own hours. As long as I delivered it on time, I could do it whenever it suited me. They paid me quite well because it was writing that took a bit of research. It took me to understand the tone of voice they wanted me to use. I had to know exactly how they wanted it to come across.

Selling things on Etsy

6. Etsy store

This is something that intrigues me. You can sell your products, and they don't have to be physical if you have creative talent.

It can be physical products if you have a talent for something like that. It can be digital products. You can sell all those digital downloads or physical products through Etsy and run your own store.

7. YouTube

You can have a great side hustle with YouTube once you get to the point of being monetized and once you get to the point of having an audience who watch your videos.

It takes a lot of work to make videos, edit them, think about what you're going to talk about, upload them, and put the thumbnails in. It takes a lot of work to get monetized. You need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours within the last 365 days of the last year period to be monetized. So it means you'll make a lot of videos for free before you get monetized.

8. Thumbnail designer

Suppose you have a skill for graphic design or creative design, or you're good at Photoshop, or you're good at editing photographs, and you're good at putting things together visually online. Why not offer your services as a thumbnail designer?

There is a huge amount of YouTubers much more prominent than myself that probably have no time to make their own thumbnails, and thumbnails have to be decent if you want your video to be viewed.

Editing content as a side hustle

9. Short-form content editor

If you had a skill as a short-form content editor, you could try and make the content that we make anyway, the Vlogs we make, and the videos we make, and cut them down into short-form content. It would be suitable for Reels on Instagram or TikTok videos.

If you were to offer a service of making short-form content from the raw footage the person has already filmed for their YouTube videos, and you were to put a spin on it and make it look good, I believe there is a great amount of money to be made.
