Why This Couple Are Retiring in a Tiny House

Living Big in a Tiny House gives you a taste of how to retire in a tiny house. Brenda and Peter opted for tiny house retirement living after trying it out for a month.

After the experience, they no longer thought it made sense to tie up money in their conventional three-bedroom home so they sold it and opted for tiny house retirement living.

Retirement plan

The home is built on land their daughter, Rebecca, owns so the couple frequently see their grandkids. Rebecca also owns a tiny house-building company that built the house for Brenda and Peter, which also incidentally won a design award.

Retiring in a tiny house has given the couple a super low-maintenance lifestyle that allows them to travel and spend quality time with family in a multigenerational setting.

The main home is about 10 feet wide by 36 feet long but feels bright and spacious with walls of glass leading to the large covered deck and expansive view.

The single-level design has a downstairs bedroom, a large kitchen with a small breakfast bar, a good-sized bathroom with a large shower, and more cabinet storage than they ever had in their larger home. Another perk? It takes four minutes to vacuum the entire house!

The additional pod next to the main home serves as a sewing room and workshop. The couple also keeps busy with a caravan so they can explore New Zealand.

Retiring in a tiny house

Tiny house retirement gives Brenda and Peter greater quality of life that living in a standard home did not offer. As with many tiny homes, it was built to take advantage of the surrounding views. What do you think about retiring in a tiny home?

Me three, beautiful Tiny House. I would appreciate getting the floor plan and price.

Sounds great in theory but being retired and home with someone all day when you both worked is challenging in a larger house. I love my husband very much and there are days when we both need a little space so this would be challenging for me.
