4 Quick and Healthy Snacks to Make at Home

Today, I will focus on healthy and easy snacks to make at home. I will make some snacks and also freeze some of them. I’m going to get started on restocking some of the snacks I make at home.

I use a basic muffin recipe that I found and I sometimes add in chocolate chips or fruit or whatever I have on hand. You can use your favorite basic muffin recipe.

Today, I’ll add sprinkles for Funfetti-style muffins.

The muffins are done–I guess I overfilled my muffin tray but they are still delicious and fluffy. I will let them cool and put them in an airtight container. If you do a huge bulk batch, you can freeze them, too.

Recipe 2: Homemade chocolate pudding

This is the easiest and most delicious snack to make. This takes just five minutes to make.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

I mixed the ingredients (except butter and vanilla). I put the stovetop on medium and mix it as it cooks and thickens up. Once it coats a spoon, remove it from the heat.

Then add butter and vanilla.

Divide the mixture into bowls (I like to use little Mason jars with lids), let it cool, and then put them in the fridge. I put little circles of wax paper on top to keep the top from hardening.

Recipe 3: No-bake homemade granola bars

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups quick oats
  • ½ cup or more of crispy rice cereal
  • ¼ cup mini-chocolate chips

Directions:

I put ingredients in the pot, including the butter, honey, brown sugar, and peanut butter. I’ll let it all melt down before putting in the oats. I’ll use puffed rice, rather than Rice Krispies cereal.

After the ingredients melt, take the pot off the stove. Add in vanilla, chocolate chips, and oats. Mix thoroughly. The chips will melt so keep some out to sprinkle on top.

Put parchment paper in a baking dish. Add the mixture to a baking dish. Flatten it out. Sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top. Slice after everything cools.

Recipe 4: Bagel bites

Recipe 4: Bagel bites
I have a batch of my milk-and-honey dough ready to make mini-bagels. You can use any homemade dough recipe you’d like to make these bagels. The milk-and-honey dough requires a bread machine.

I’ll probably get about 24 out of this batch of dough for mini-bagels. Flour the dough and cut it. I cut it into 12 pieces and then cut those pieces in half.

Shape the dough into balls, pinch the seams, and put the seams at the bottom. Then make a hole in the middle. Cover them up with a towel.

Boil water so you can add baking soda. Add the dough to the water and baking soda. Let the bagels cook.

Take the bagels out, put them in a pan, and let them cool down.

Cut them in half when they are cool. Add pizza sauce and cheese. I’m making mine simple.

I put plastic wrap over one pan for the deep freezer. The rest I put on a cookie sheet to pop in the oven when I need an after-school snack.
