$15 Dollar Tree Thanksgiving Dinner for 2 on a Budget

Thanksgiving is a time to gather with loved ones and share a hearty meal, but it doesn't have to be expensive! I challenged myself to create a complete Thanksgiving dinner for just $15 from Dollar Tree.

I’ve done budget-friendly videos before, but this one is special because I wanted to see how far a few bucks could stretch—and how good the meal would actually taste. Spoiler: It turned out pretty well!

Here’s how I did it, what I bought, and whether I’d recommend it if you’re looking to save this Thanksgiving.

The Budget Challenge

I set out to make a meal with the essentials: turkey, dressing, a vegetable, a starch, and dessert. The idea was to find everything I needed at Dollar Tree while staying under $15. Surprisingly, I was able to stick to my budget, although I did indulge in a couple of extras that pushed the total just slightly over.

The Ingredients

Here’s what I picked up:

  • Two cans of turkey breast (yes, canned turkey!).
  • Stuffing mix and turkey gravy for the dressing.
  • Green beans and cream of mushroom soup for a green bean casserole.
  • Roasted garlic mashed potatoes as my starch.
  • For dessert: coconut breakfast cookies, vanilla pudding, and canned pumpkin to make a fun twist on a pumpkin parfait.
  • I also added some Ready Whip for that final touch on the parfait.

Altogether, I spent just around $15. Everything else was $1.25 each, except for the Ready Whip that cost $3.

Cooking the Meal

Turkey and Stuffing Casserole

I started by making a simple turkey and stuffing casserole.

I used canned turkey, mixed with some turkey gravy, and topped it with stuffing mix.

I saved a bit of the stuffing mix for my green bean casserole later. No butter here—I wanted to see if it would still work without it.

Green Bean Casserole

For my green bean casserole, I used a can of green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and the rest of the stuffing mix for crunch.

I would’ve loved some French fried onions, but they weren’t available at Dollar Tree, so I made do without.

Mashed Potatoes

For the mashed potatoes, I kept things easy by using a roasted garlic mashed potato packet and following the directions. They were surprisingly flavorful and didn’t need much doctoring up.

Pumpkin Parfaits

For dessert, I got creative!

I made pumpkin parfaits using vanilla pudding, canned pumpkin, and coconut breakfast cookies for a crunchy “crust.”

It was a fun and easy take on pumpkin pie, layered in mason jars for that rustic touch.

How It Turned Out

Once everything was done, it was time for the taste test. Here’s my honest review:

Turkey and Stuffing

Surprisingly, the canned turkey and stuffing mix came together quite well. The turkey was tender, and the stuffing had a nice, comforting flavor. It tasted just like what you’d expect from a Thanksgiving meal, even if it was made with budget ingredients.

Green Bean Casserole

The green bean casserole was good, but I did miss the French fried onions. The stuffing mix added some crunch, but I’d recommend adding onions if you can squeeze it into the budget. It was still satisfying and familiar.

Mashed Potatoes

The mashed potatoes were quick, easy, and surprisingly tasty! The roasted garlic flavor came through, making them a good complement to the turkey and stuffing.

Pumpkin Parfaits

These were the highlight! The coconut cookies added a nice texture, and the pumpkin pudding was creamy and delicious. It tasted like pumpkin pie in a jar, and I was honestly shocked at how good it turned out.

Final Thoughts

All in all, I think this Dollar Tree Thanksgiving meal is a win if you're on a tight budget or just cooking for one or two people. It’s a great option for singles, couples, or even if you want to gift a meal to someone in need. The whole meal came together in about 15 minutes of prep time and easily serves two people with generous portions—or three if you stretch it.

The flavors were surprisingly good for a meal made entirely from budget-friendly ingredients, and the pumpkin parfait was a definite hit. If you’ve got $15, a bit of creativity, and a Dollar Tree nearby, this might be the perfect solution for a simple yet festive Thanksgiving meal.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Remember, no matter the size or cost of your meal, it’s about who you share it with and the gratitude we feel. Thanks for following along, and I’ll see you in the next video!
