Today I will give you six Dollar Tree meals for only $5. I am resetting my budget using budget-friendly meals, so I went to my local Dollar Tree. I bought four ingredients: ground beef patties, flour, instant mashed potatoes, and a bag of frozen stir-fry blend. Four ingredients, five dollars, and six meals for one person!

I'm using minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, bouillon cube, butter, and oil from my pantry. I also used salt, pepper, chopped onion, thyme, basil, sage, cajun seasoning, and optional cayenne pepper.

First, I sorted the frozen veggies. We have carrots, two slices of pepper, a little broccoli, and snap peas.

The six recipes and instructions are as follows:

Carrot gnocchi Dollar Tree meal

1. Carrot gnocchi

  • 1/3 cup potato flakes
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • Extra flour to keep the dough from sticking

  • 1/4 cup slivered carrots
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/8 cup raw ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp dried chopped onion
  • Salt & pepper
  • One pot of salted boiling water (2 cups with a pinch of salt)

  • Mix all gnocchi ingredients until a dough forms. Roll small pieces of dough along fork tines to shape. Place on a sheet pan spread out to avoid sticking.
  • In a pan, add sauce ingredients (except carrots) and brown.
  • Add gnocchi to a boiling water pot and cook until they all rise to the surface (4-5 minutes).
  • Add your carrots to your pan of ground beef & drained gnocchi. Mix. Salt and pepper to taste.

So insightful 🙌. Dishes look beautiful and delicious. Thank you for sharing your ideas and techniques. It’s amazing how much you created from a few items. And, I love that each dish can be tweaked to each persons particular liking : what spices each prefers and quantities of butter. Also, if one wants more protein and can afford to buy it, i can just increase quantities. I’m running out now to Costco to buy lean ground turkey and will try with all your recipes. You are amazing 🤩 thank you 😊

The recipes are great. My Dollar Tree often has packaged gnocchis already prepared too.
