The Best Stain Remover for Clothes (That You Can Make!)
Tackle tough stains with the best stain remover that you can make right at home. Here is how to make it!
Clothing, much like everything else right now is expensive. A stain can easily ruin a favorite clothing item with just a small spot.
Fortunately, if you treat stains promptly and with the right things, you may be able to save your favorite shirt or pants.
So what do you use to remove stains promptly and is there an option that isn’t filled with chemicals? Yes!
You can make your own DIY solution that can be gentle, as well as effective with just a couple of ingredients.
In addition to being gentler and environmentally friendly, DIY remover for stains can also help you save money on cleaning supplies as well.
Supplies:
- Small 1 oz plastic spray bottle (The one here is the size of travel sized toiletries. You can get them in a set from dollar tree with 3 in it)
- Funnel (you don’t need one but it is easier when trying to pour into the small bottle)
- Castile Soap (I used Dr. Bronner’s but the brand is optional, I know that Walmart also has their own brand that is good)
- Hydrogen Peroxide (I got mine from the dollar tree)
- Tablespoon for measuring
Instructions:
Here is how to make this easy spray to use at your home.
To get started, you will want to measure 2 tablespoons of castile soap.
You will want to add the soap to a small spray bottle.
Using a small funnel can help make this easier.
Next, you will want to fill the remainder of the bottle with hydrogen peroxide
Place the cap tightly back onto the bottle and shake to mix it all together.
Your stain remover is now ready to use.
While this does include gentle ingredients, clothing brands, quality and textures. can vary.
It can be helpful to test the spray on an inconspicuous spot before doing a full treatment to see how it works with that particular fabric.
When you are ready to treat a stain, saturate the stain well and then let it sit for about 5 minutes before placing it in the washing machine.
I tried this on a grass stain and it worked really well.
After removing the clothing item from the wash, check the stain before placing the item in the dryer. if needed, treat the stain a second time and wash again.

It would have been much easier to read-rather than slogging -through ALL the repeat pictures. Much too picture heavy for me.
2 T of soap = 1 oz. so there would not be any room for the peroxide! Are you sure you had a 1 oz spray bottle or did you use 2 t of soap and 4 t of peroxide?
