How To Use A Garland For Everyday & Holidays

Today I am sharing how to use a garland for holidays and everyday. I’ll show how I easily dress up tablescapes with some greenery.

This was such a fun post to put together! I had a great time digging through my own items, including vintage vases and scraps of material.

I flipped through new magazines and visited some stores to see what they did for their displays. It was all in the name of research dear readers (wink wink).

And then I created three tablescapes showing the garland in three settings. Hope you enjoy!

How to use a garland everyday.

Do you always have a centerpiece out on your dining table or just for parties and special occasions?

I frequently have one large vase or a few bud vases grouped together.

However, when Lights.com reached out about a collaboration, I was excited to try something different and experiment with their garland.

Let’s walk through the ways I used it.

How to use garland at an impromptu brunch, to level up your take out, or for a small intimate celebration.

The 6 ft Eucalyptus garland has a flexible wire, ,which makes it easy to sort of bend it on edges of tables to prevent it from slipping. This flexibility means it is also easy to roll up when it’s not in use.

Try adding a garland to a buffet, bar cart or other serving area.

I have two of the garlands and I used one on the dining table and the other set out on the buffet.

Layer garland over a runner.

This isn’t actually a runner. It is some remnant fabric I have! I added a few vintage brass vases and the Lights.com Arden brass candlesticks in both their large and small sizes; medium is also available to complete the look.

By taking away and adding pieces, you can take the look more casual or formal.

Heading into the holidays

Of course these garlands are perfect for the holidays!

For a romantic look I combined both garlands to drape over the edges of the table.

How to use a garland at Thanksgiving!

With the addition of the Lights.com velvet pumpkins in Moss green and Warm Sand and the pampas wreath I made, it is an easy transition to a Thanksgiving table!

To create different levels of interest, I set the pumpkins on top of candle holders that I’ve had for years.

Mix in some earthy elements.

The sisal chargers, rattan napkin rings and the bit of dried wheat bring in the harvest touch.

How to use a garland for Winter holidays

Of course this garland is perfect for Christmas!

Did I mention it lights up? Yes! It is pre-lit with dainty fairy lights. Dreamy!

Use the garland shaped as a wreath for a centerpiece.

I used one garland and wrapped it into a circle to mimic a wreath as a centerpiece.

How pretty is the glow of the lights reflecting off of the metallic napkin ring?

Add in some Christmas shine.

These are the Juniper Glass Trees from Lights.com in the Champagne color. They also light up!

I am so excited to use the trees and wreath throughout the holidays!

Oh and did you notice the burgundy candles? They are the Infinity Wick Taper Candles

from Lights.com. I love to incorporate a bit of red at Christmas. Seattle gets very dark, very early in the winter. I often light candles to add warmth. I will even do this if we have leftovers or take out. It just makes a dreary night a bit brighter.

And a great feature about the candles is the remote! My son has been loving to turn them on when we set the dinner table. It makes even a dinner of box macaroni and corn dogs feel fancy lol.
