Does Dollar Tree Sell Healthy Food? Here Are 24 Healthy Options

Dollar Tree has aisles and aisles of food, but is any of it healthy? Let’s find out. There are plenty of unhealthy options, but I guarantee we can find some examples of Dollar Tree's healthy food together.

Coconut water

1. Coconut water

I didn't see any juice that I would recommend, especially since none of them are 100% juice. But they do have coconut water, which is a great natural electrolyte and something that I would purchase for my family.

Hint flavored water

2. Flavored water

They also have these flavored waters that have no added sugar. I love these Hint waters and I'm so glad they sell them here.

Organic coffee

3. Organic coffee

I was also pleasantly surprised to find a great selection of organic coffee.

Dollar Tree oatmeal

4. Oatmeal

Dollar Tree sells sugary breakfast options that all kids, I'm sure, would want. But there's got to be something here that is healthy that we could pick from. They do have some dairy-free milk options that are unsweetened. I was also able to find some plain oatmeal.

Pure cane sugar

5. Pure cane sugar

I would definitely serve this to my family. The only honey I found at Dollar Tree has corn syrup in it, so in its place, I would just purchase some pure cane sugar to sprinkle on the oatmeal. That's a much healthier option than the corn syrup-flavored honey.

Refined coconut oil

6. Refined coconut oil

Dollar Tree also carries this 100% pure refined coconut oil. Refined means that it's been processed so it doesn't have that strong coconut flavor, but it still has the same nutritional value as unrefined. They also have coconut milk.

Apple cider vinegar (with the mother)

7. Apple cider vinegar (with the mother)

This apple cider vinegar is a great find, and it has the mother and is unpasteurized. This was an amazing find. If you see this at your Dollar Tree, pick it up for sure. It’s an amazing price for a high-quality product.

Canned beans

8. Canned beans

Canned beans are a 100% approved healthy food option. This is just beans, water, and salt. You can't get more basic than that. You could easily throw a meal together with these beans. If you are having trouble with heating up food, opt for canned vegetables which contain just the vegetable, salt, and water. Beans are a perfectly healthy food if you’re on a budget.

Brown rice

9. Brown rice

Dollar tree also sells brown rice, which you can use to complete the meal. If you don’t like brown rice, they have jasmine rice too. Put that together with some dried beans and you can easily throw a meal together.

Himalayan pink salt

10. Himalayan pink salt

Dollar Tree offers many spices, but this one caught my eye. Himalayan pink salt. It’s such a better choice than the white salt. I'm so glad they carry this.

Veggie chips

11. Veggie chips

Don't get sidetracked by all those bright-colored unhealthy snacks. I want to show you some healthy snack foods that you could pick from Dollar Tree for your family. I was pretty impressed with these veggie chips which are non-GMO and have fairly decent ingredients, but it's definitely not the healthiest snack they have.

Dollar Tree popcorn

12. Popcorn

Let’s keep looking. Skinny Pop popcorn is another healthy option. I love this, and it's just the three ingredients: popcorn, sunflower oil, and salt. Sunflower is not my favorite oil, but again, we're picking from Dollar Tree, so it's probably going to be one of the healthier Dollar Tree snacks.

Basic pretzels

13. Basic pretzels

Another option would be some basic pretzels. The more basic snack options will have fewer ingredients, which is something we are looking for in healthy snack options.

Dollar Tree pistachios

14. Pistachios

Pistachios are a great Dollar Tree snack option. Pistachios are high in iron, magnesium, and vitamin B6. They're also high in antioxidants.

Tropical trail mix

15. Trail mix

If we are out and about and my kids need a snack, I always pick up this mountain trail mix or the tropical one. They come in little individual bags and for $1.25 you can't go wrong.

Carrot chips

16. Carrot chips

Check out these carrot chips Dollar tree sells. Just one ingredient, carrots full of beta-carotene. That’s a great snack.

Freeze-dried fruit

17. Freeze-dried fruit

I was so pleased to find that Dollar Tree carries these freeze-dried fruits with no added sugar. They have so many options. They have banana, strawberry-banana, mango, and apple.

Healthy Dollar Tree snacks

18. More veggie chips

These veggie chips are another great crunchy snack I found at Dollar Tree. I love these and my kids especially love the purple potato.

Popcorn kernels

19. Popcorn kernels

Dollar Tree also sells plain popcorn kernels. Put the kernels in a brown paper bag and pop it in the microwave for a healthy treat.

Snack olives

20. Snack olives

I was so excited to see they have snack olive pouches. Olives are full of healthy fats.

Dollar Tree seaweed snack

21. Seaweed

If you have a roasted seaweed lover in the house, Dollar Tree has you covered with another healthy snack option.

Sunmaid raisins at Dollar Tree

22. Raisins

They also have simple snacks like raisins, which are great for toddlers.

Unsweetened applesauce

23. Unsweetened applesauce

I love that they're offering an unsweetened applesauce cup. So much better than the sweetened ones.

Frozen fruits and vegetables

24. Frozen fruits and vegetables

Finally, I checked out the freezer section where the only healthy foods I found were frozen fruits and vegetables, but what could be healthier than fruits and vegetables? Thank you, Dollar Tree, for offering this.

Dollar Tree healthy foods

How easy would it be to put a healthy meal together? I think it's safe to say there are some healthy food options at Dollar Tree. For just under $4 you could easily feed your family a lovely meal of brown rice, beans, and frozen vegetables.

You can find a healthy breakfast at Dollar Tree too. Just pick up a bowl of oatmeal with some frozen fruit. There are some awesome healthy snack options as well.

these days you have to be aware that good things can be found in many places.

These days, I find myself buying food items in places I never would have thought about. Overstock stores are great for dry goods, I visit the $ stores before I do my regular grocery shopping, I also check the ads for the large chain drug stores for sales and bargains. I use a cash back credit card and several websites for getting rebates on grocery items. Can be a lot of work, but I retired just before the pandemic giving me time to do all this "thrifting". Use every tool available to me.
