Get Holiday Ready With These 6 Affordable Pottery Barn Dupes

Today, we'll talk about easy ways to reduce stress and anxiety, getting our homes and holidays ready with Pottery Barn dupes.

Gingerbread village

1. Gingerbread village

Go to a Dollar Tree and pick up a couple of dollhouses in the kids' toy sections, as well as some puffy white paint.

In addition, I bought brown spray paint in the color Chestnut. If you've never worked with this puffy paint before, I recommend that you practice a little bit. Paint the doll houses to look like gingerbread.

Gingerbread snowflake

If you don't have the time or patience to do this gingerbread village, consider picking up one of the snowflake trays from Dollar Tree.

These come in the color blue on the inside and then they're silver on the outside. I spray-painted the inner part with that same spray paint and used the same method of puffy paint to make it look like gingerbread.

If you're looking for an even easier idea to give as a gift, pick up these wall clings from Dollar Tree. They come in several different themes. This particular one has a gingerbread theme. I also got this glass-lidded jar from Dollar Tree.

You have several ideas to choose from. I chose the simple gingerbread. I got all those bubbles out as I put it on slowly.

Gingerbread decoration

I filled it with my favorite Little Debbie snack cakes that are pre-wrapped, which makes a wonderful hostess gift.

Pottery Barn dupe pillows

2. Pottery Barn dupe pillows

I want to remind you that the most beautiful decorations are the memories that you create. There is no need to spend lots of money on trendy decor like these pillows from Pottery Barn.

I picked up a similar dupe at Dollar Tree. This pillow was $5. It comes in red and green and it looks very similar to the Pottery Barn-style pillows.

Dollar Tree bows

3. Dollar Tree bows

If you wish you could tie a beautiful holiday bow for those packages under the tree, I have a solution for you. Go to Dollar Tree's wedding aisle where you'll find pew bows. Use them for any size package.

4. Dollar Tree cypress tree dupes

This year the trendy tree is a My Texas House pre-lit 4-foot cypress tree from Walmart. I did snag one of these early in the season. I will use it on our porch but we will dupe a tree on a tinier budget.

For the base of this tree, I decided to use a pot that I already owned. I am going to repaint that. In addition, I picked up three of these $5 Dollar Tree Christmas trees. These are found in the Dollar Tree Plus section if you have one of those at your store.

You'll also need to pick up a lot of zip ties, do not be stingy on those. They are the secret to making the idea I'm going to show you work.

I started by fluffing the side of my first tree so that the remaining side was flat. Now we're going to make that tree a little bit taller by zip-tying one tree to the top and one tree to the bottom.

So from one tree, the tree on top, you're going to remove the plastic stand and zip tie enough overlay so that you feel like it's gonna be sturdy.

Once you have the height that you want on the tree we're going to add some fullness to the bottom and middle section of that tree by zip-tying the second tree around the middle.

Now that I'm adding that second tree, the diameter is a little bit bigger so I'm using the large zip ties.

You will find these in the automotive section at Dollar Tree. They're clear. and they completely disappear into the green part of the tree.

With both of those trees zipped together, the height is about six feet and the tree is very slender and that's exactly what I was going for. So now it's time to flock this tree with some very inexpensive white paint from Lowe's.

Before I fluffed out those branches any further, I went ahead and spray-painted the underside of the branches with inexpensive white spray paint.

You will see once we've fluffed it out that it's really clear where those tree lines end so we're going to need to make it look a little bit more natural, a little bit more cylindrical.

After I finished pruning back some of those longer limbs that looked out of place I purchased this garland from Dollar Tree. I only needed one and then I was just able to cut off the lengths of the boughs that I needed to fill in the space and make it look like it was all one tree instead of two trees put together.

To work with this project, I just put the base of that tree in my pot and I shored it up with some bricks until I could paint that pot and make it look how I wanted.

Now I'm going back in and I'm filling in some of the texture with some branches from Dollar Tree.

I used some of the pine branches, but I also used some of this baby’s breath from the regular floral section at Dollar Tree, and this will make those branches look more like they have a little bit of snow on them.

Holiday books

5. Holiday books

Decorating with holiday books can also be pricey, and if it's just coming out one time a year, you may not have the room to store those things.

Instead, take off your dust covers and check to see if the spines of the books you already have are the colors you're using to decorate. If not, you can also turn those dust covers around so they just make a very blank, neutral decor statement.

I decided to create a little touch of whimsy by making some of my book spines. Canva is a free design app that I use for all kinds of design, and I just printed out these fictional book titles and taped them to the spines of the books I already had.

Christmas ornaments

6. Christmas ornaments

Then it's back to Dollar Tree to look for some ornaments. I decided to stick with gold and Dollar Tree has more of a yellowy gold and then champagne gold in their ornaments.

Christmas ornaments

I also found these garnet red color ornaments that I love.

I use these all over our little faux Christmas tree and I just kept it simple. Even if you decide not to have a tree or to have a really small tree, these red balls would be the perfect accent to any tray or any decor throughout your house.
