If you’re looking for easy breakfast sandwich recipes, look no further. The recipes I’m sharing today are simple to make, they’re delicious, and your family will just love them.

Of course, making any meal is going to take some time and energy on your part, and busy mornings aren’t always the right time to do that. So I'm going to show you how to meal prep breakfast sandwiches ahead of time to make your entire week go a lot more smoothly.

Honestly, learning how to prep breakfast sandwiches ahead of time is one of the best things I ever did for me and my family. It saves us time in the mornings because you're not scrambling to get everything together in a rush.

And it also saves us some money because it means that you don't have to hit a fast food drive-through on the way in order to eat breakfast quickly before work or school.

How to meal prep breakfast sandwiches

The two main things that you need for cheap breakfast sandwiches are a bread item to hold things together, and then some sort of protein, which could be eggs, sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon, or some sort of vegetarian patty.

Choosing the bread base

1. Choose your bread

I typically like to use English muffins. I prefer whole grain to get a little bit of extra fiber too. And the flavor is similar to the white bread version of English muffins.

Selecting protein

2. Select a source of protein

As far as protein goes, I have a couple of different sources. I'm adding one egg to each of the sandwiches I’m making today. And then I'm going to use some of this smoked, uncured ham that I have left over.

And I also bought some turkey bacon too. Again, deli ham, regular bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage patties, and plant-based proteins work well too. So you can use whatever you prefer or mix and match several different proteins.

Cheese is another good source of protein and it makes these sandwiches nice and gooey. It also has some fat in it as well. So I have a package of Colby Jack cheese that's going to go on top of the ones I’m making today.

Cooking eggs in a muffin tin

3. Cook your eggs

To cook the eggs, I use a giant muffin tin that holds six eggs as opposed to a regular size muffin tin that holds twelve. The reason for this is that when the eggs bake, they will become skinnier, but they'll also become wider, so they will fit on top of the English muffin a whole lot better than a thicker, denser one.

I always spray the pan because it will stick to it. And then all I do is just crack one egg into each one and add a little bit of salt and pepper as well. After that, they're ready to bake.

And once your oven is preheated to 350 degrees, you simply put the eggs in for about 15 minutes or so. Depending on the size of your muffin tin, it may take a bit longer or less time.

Laying out the bread

4. Lay out the bread

While the eggs bake, I place all of the English muffins on a baking sheet and cook the turkey bacon in the microwave. You can toast the English muffins now if you want to, but you really don’t have to.

When the oven timer goes off, I give the eggs a quick little poke just to make sure that they are fully cooked. Once I do that, I take a knife and slide it around the edges to remove the eggs from each tin.

Assemble the breakfast sandwiches

5. Assemble the sandwiches

We are now ready to assemble the sandwiches. The first thing I do is lay the cheese on top of the English muffins. If the cheese spills way over the top of the English muffin, I break it apart in pieces, which makes it easier to wrap up later.

Next up, I put some type of protein on top of the cheese, or several types if I feel like it that day.

Then, I take the eggs out and lay them right on top of my source of protein.

Storing the breakfast sandwiches

6. Store the sandwiches

And now the big question is how do you store these? One of the easier ways is to use regular storage containers. You put the lid on, stick it in the fridge, and it's good to go.

If you want to freeze them, take some plastic wrap and cover the entire sandwich in it, then put it in a gallon-size freezer bag and label it. That'll prevent your breakfast sandwiches from getting freezer burnt. And you can always put the containers right into the freezer as well.

7. Reheat the sandwiches

To reheat the breakfast sandwiches later on, thaw them out in the fridge overnight first or defrost them in the microwave for a minute or so. Then, bake them in your oven or toaster oven.

To do this, open up the sandwich, lay it in the oven or toaster oven, and then let it go for maybe a minute or so. You can also just microwave them if you don't care about them being toasted or not.
