Extreme Decluttering of My Storage Area

I decided that it was time for me to do an extreme decluttering of my storage area. My clutter was nearly piled to the ceiling and an extreme decluttering was well overdue. If you’re trying to figure out how to declutter a house, this is the right article for you.

Thankfully, I have an amazing friend who agreed to help me declutter. I recommend recruiting any help you can find. Decluttering is a long and tedious process, and the more helping hands you can gather, the easier the decluttering process will be.

Figure out a strategy to help you figure out where the things you’re getting rid of will be going. I took pictures of things I didn’t want anymore. My extreme decluttering checklist includes sending these photos to family to see if any of our relatives want them. If no one’s interested in those items, I know they are ready to be donated.

I decided to get rid of our amazing double stroller. This was difficult because it has been such a valued item in my life for years. As my kids get older though, it’s hard to rationalize holding on to such a large and clunky product.

I know that if I donate it, someone who really needs it will get great use out of it, and that makes me feel better about letting it go.

Letting go of old hobbies is also hard to do, but as a very busy mom of 4, it was time to let go of things I no longer have time for. I got rid of some fabric I never used. I also found some towels I was going to embroider but never did. I decided to get rid of both the towels and the embroidery machine.

I found a lot of items that I clearly bought with good intentions, but wasn’t being realistic about what I could actually get around to using. This brought up some feelings of guilt, but I decided I needed to let that guilt go, along with the items I got rid of, so I could start fresh.

Don’t let your feelings prevent you from getting rid of your clutter. Take a look at my extreme declutter before and after pictures.

I am very proud of myself. I managed to get rid of an enormous amount of clutter. Taking all that clutter out of the house gave me a sense of freedom I hadn’t felt in a long time.

I hope this inspired you to tackle your clutter.
