For seven years, this amazing family of 5 engaged in homesteading. Their initial desire was a simple, tranquil life, living off the land and raising their children in harmony with nature. This desire has anchored them to their homestead, with no plans for relocation in sight. Here's how they do it!

Living with the Elements

Adapting to weather patterns has been essential given the family's reliance on solar power and rainwater. This symbiotic relationship with nature brings a sense of fulfillment and deep respect for the land. They aren't just homesteading for self-sustenance, but also for food security, aiming to maximize sustainability.

The wife manages the gardens, working tirelessly through the spring, summer, and fall to grow a multitude of vegetables. Preservation methods such as canning and preserving ensure a year-round supply of their produce. To further extend their growing season, they plan on erecting a greenhouse. Aside from vegetables, they produce their own bread, butter, and yogurt at home, providing a significant reduction in living costs.

They've encountered challenges, like attempting to grow wheat without the necessary farming equipment. Despite the success in growth, harvesting by hand proved to be an insurmountable task.

This family is living their dream of the homestead.

Raising Animals

Animals, initially not part of the plan, became necessary for land maintenance and increased self-sufficiency. Chickens provide eggs and meat, pigs are raised for pork, and sheep and goats are sources of milk, which they've learned to transform into cheese. The addition of a cow to their farm will further enhance their production of dairy products. Their high-quality pork has even attracted local demand, leading them to increase their pig stock. The couple's homesteading journey is a testament to their passion for sustainable living and resilience in the face of challenges.

Their pig farming became so successful that they started selling, too!
