How to Spoil Your Husband Without Spending Money

How to spoil your husband for free! Learn all the creative ways I spoil my husband on a daily basis without spending a dime!

If there’s one person who deserves to be spoiled, that would be my husband. He is truly the most incredible dad to our three little girls. They love him so much that they cry when he leaves and ask for him all day long (aren’t kids supposed to be more attached to their moms?!). He spends quality time with them, reads to them before bed, wakes up with them in the middle of the night, changes diapers and more. I am incredibly thankful to have him by my side.

Today, I wanted to share a list of ways I spoil my husband without spending any money. If you’re looking for free gift ideas or just want to say “thanks” to your man, you’ll want to keep reading!!

John and I try to show each other we appreciate one another on a regular (daily) basis. We tend to spoil each other all the time because it helps make our marriage stronger. There have been many times where I’ve been having a “blah” day and John will show up with flowers. This small gesture really brightens my day.

But ladies – this post is for you! Today I’m sharing tips on spoiling your husband without spending money.

How to Spoil Your Husband without Spending Money

Give him a back massage

While my husband in particular LOVES back massages because he works in construction, I can’t imagine a man that wouldn’t want a massage. Create a spa day at home for your husband to help relax him and show him you care.

Cook him his favorite meal

John’s favorite meal is steak, hands-down. I’m not the grill master in the house, but John loves when I surprise him with his favorite cut of steak. He also loves coming home from work to a plate of food, so lately I’ve been trying to have an iced coffee and some treats waiting for him for when he gets home. It takes me no more than five minutes to put together and it really cheers him up after a hard day.

Tell him how much you appreciate him

This one’s easy, but when was the last time you thanked your husband for everything he does for you and your family? I know I cannot thank him enough, so I try to regularly let my husband verbally know that I appreciate him. I try to be specific with this instead of just saying, “I appreciate how good of a father you are.”

Ask him what you can do for him

Most mornings, I ask John if there’s anything I can do for him that will help him that day. This could be paying a bill, buying something he needs at the store or taking the trash cans back in.

Kiss him goodbye and greet him when he gets home

Thanks to my new morning routine, I’ve been waking up with or before my husband and have been able to chat with him a bit before he leaves for work. We always make sure to kiss goodbye and tell each other we love each other. When he gets home from work, I stop what I’m doing to greet him and ask him about his day. Not going to lie – this is not always easy and doesn’t always happen depending on what the girls are doing, but I do try to make a conscious effort to be there when he walks in the door.

Let him pick what you do this weekend

This weekend, let your husband decide what activities you’ll do that day. Lately we’ve been trying to each pick one activity per weekend and it’s been working well. John gets to do something he wants (whether that’s going out to breakfast, playing a round of golf or taking our kids to a certain park) and I get to choose an activity, too (my activities are typically going to the bookstore, exploring a new area or going to the lake). But seriously – wake up one morning and tell your husband that it’s his day and you’ll do whatever he wants all day with a smile on your face. I’m normally quite surprised at what my husband picks and I never regret putting him in charge of the plans!

Give him a break from the kids

While this gift is normally geared toward moms, I’m sure most dads would love some “time off” from their little ones – especially knowing that you approve! An everyday example in our house is bath time. Typically, we tackle it together. Just the other night, John and I headed to the tub with the girls to start their bath and I told John to head downstairs and relax. He got 20 minutes of peace while I bathed the girls and got them ready for bed. Easy peasy, and John was in a great mood all evening from one little gesture. In marriage, it really is the little things that matter.
