Dawn from the Minimal Mom takes you on a minimalist home tour so you can learn about what she keeps in her house and why. She says that if your house is messy, the main problem you may have is that you are trying to manage way too much inventory in your home.

Dawn has a minimal amount of items, such as pots, dishes, towels, bedding, and even clothing in her home. But she explains why she decided to keep a minimalist home and her reasons are truly inspirational.

Managing stuff

As the chief inventory manager of her house, Dawn recognized that every single item in the house is something she had to manage, clean, and put away.

Most people will agree that homes get messy when life gets a little wild but with minimal inventory, a busy household can still look and feel orderly. That was the realization that helped her transform her house into a minimalist family home.

Keeping low inventory

Dawn isn’t a fancy cook so she doesn’t need complicated kitchen items. She also realizes a minimalist kitchen makes it super easy to clean and put things away.

For example, she only has enough kitchen towels or bags that will fit comfortably into designated drawers. For the bathroom, Dawn believes that both her family and guests are worthy of using nice towels so why waste storage on towels that are only used a few times a year?

Minimalist throw pillows

She does have one or two indulgences, however. Dawn’s love of throw pillows helps keep her house a warm and cozy minimalist home and books she intends to read are stashed out of the way in an under-bed storage basket.

Dawn knows that if she wants to free up stress and keep her home tidy and peaceful, she needs to keep minimal inventory around the house. Do you find Dawn’s philosophy for a minimalist family home inspirational? Let us know in the comments.
