5 Important Thrifting Tips That Will Save You Money
Tawra from Living On A Dime To Grow Rich together with her mom are sharing five great thrifting tips that will help you save tons of money.
1. Go frequently
Especially if you are looking for specific items, the key is going regularly. Thrift stores put new stuff out every day, so you never know when it is going to show up.
2. Choose your timing wisely
Always go early in the morning. Other than that, many people drop things off on Saturday after cleaning their house, so a great thrift shopping hack is going on Monday morning after they have put those out. Finally, try going on unpopular days, such as Tuesdays, as opposed to weekends when all the stores are crowded.
3. Know your prices
Tawra’s mom says that you can often find great craft and sewing items for super cheap because people do not know their real worth and price them very low.
4. Do not shy away from thrifting electrical appliances
Appliances are a bit tricky, but can totally be a great buy. Most thrift stores will let you test them at the store, or at least return them if you find out they do not work at home. And even if you end up with a non-functional item, you may find some parts of it useful, or even resell them.
Finally, even if you do end up wasting money on a certain item that does not work, remember how much money you have saved by thrifting all the other appliances instead of buying them new.
5. Get to know people
Talk to the people in your store, and you might be offered even better options. Tawra got some peg boards for free this way.
