Hey everyone! We want to share seven of our homestead must-haves with you. There are certain gadgets and gizmos we use on our homestead that have made homestead living so much easier and way more convenient.

If you're a homesteader or thinking about becoming one, these are things that we would strongly suggest you consider getting.

Bluetti power station

1. Bluetti power station

The first item we highly recommend is the Bluetti Max portable power station. It is basically just portable electricity. You plug it in to charge at home, and then you can take it out anywhere and you have electricity. There are two electric outlets and four USB outlets. You can plug in up to 120 volts.

We use the Bluetti for a lot of things on the homestead. We have a huge generator, but it's loud, and difficult to lug it around. The Bluetti is perfect if you just need a little bit of electricity. This thing really comes in handy on the homestead.

You can plug in your phones, fans, lights, whatever you need. At the end of the day, you just take it back home and plug it in to recharge it. It's even got a little built-in flashlight on the back.

Heat powered Ecofan

2. Heat powered Ecofan

The next item we highly recommend is called an Ecofan. It’s a heat-powered wood stove fan. There are no batteries. There's no cord. You put it on top of your wood stove and the heat goes through this panel on the base of the fan which converts the heat into electricity that powers the motor.

The heat from your wood stove turns this fan and actually spreads the hot air around really nicely. We have our wood stove in our living room. We set up the fan and after a couple of hours, you can really feel the heat getting pushed around to the different rooms.

Canvas log carrier

3. Canvas log carrier

This next item seems simple but it has been such a great thing to have. It’s a canvas log carrier. This thing is such a great way to move firewood. You just gather your wood and put it in this little satchel. It makes moving firewood so much easier.

The satchel has these nice handles and you can put a ton of wood in it and carry it easily. This way you don't get your clothes all dirty. We were using wheelbarrows or carrying wood and got dirt and dust all over our clothes. It’s also surprisingly strong. We’ve had ours for a while, and it doesn't have any holes or anything.

KitchenAid mixer

4. KitchenAid mixer

Now let's talk about some kitchen supplies that have made homestead living easier for us. One thing that has been so great to have is a KitchenAid mixer. We make a lot of homemade breads, pizza dough, and pies.

We pretty much need to make everything ourselves here. This helps us get everything done much more efficiently. It even has a meat grinder attachment which is really essential for homesteaders.

Instant pot cooker

5. Instant pot cooker

Another kitchen appliance we highly recommend for homestead living is an instant pot. You can make stews in it. You can make soup. You can sauté things in it.

An instant pot can take the place of pans and pot. It could take the place of so many different things. When we moved into our homestead, we had a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, and a rice cooker.

The instant pot cooks rice, it does pressure cooking, and slow cooking. It really does everything. You can make meats and stews, soups and broths, beans, and chili poultry. It can take the place of a bunch of pots and pans, and other appliances in your house which is great because homestead living is easier when you keep things minimal.

Apple peeler

6. Apple peeler

Another kitchen gadget that has really come in handy is this apple peeler that also works for coring and slicing. It has a suction cup on the bottom, so you just stick it on the table and it’s ready to use. We make a lot of pies. We also prepare a lot of jellies and jams, so this thing really comes in handy.

How to use an apple peeler

This peeler definitely cuts down on the prep time. It does it all for you. It peels it, it cuts it, it cores, so nothing goes to waste. We've used it for so many things too. It's not just for apples. It’s also useful for peeling and cutting things like potatoes and all sorts of fruits and vegetables.

Cordless power drill

7. Cordless power drill

Another essential gadget we highly recommend you get for your homestead is a cordless power drill. This is our most used tool over the last ten years. We have probably put through a million screws with this thing.

We built two tiny houses with it. We used it for all of the remodelings we did on our homestead here. We built the dog kennel, we built the chicken coop, we built the greenhouse, we built the goat house, all with a cordless power drill.

This thing just works great. I don't have any brand preference. I purchased ours at Home Depot, but they sell them all over.

Homestead must-haves

We hope you enjoyed hearing about the 7 gadgets we consider must-haves for homestead living. There are so many different gadgets and gizmos available to consumers these days and so much of it is just not necessary.

We’ve put in the time and done the research and we’ve chosen these 7 items because they have made life so much easier for us. Convenience and efficiency are key for us and these items have really helped us streamline everything we do here.

No need for suran wrap over a plate or bowl. Reuse ur plastic vegetable bags AND tie a knot for fresh keeping leftovers.
