5 of My Favorite Van Life Gadgets

I’m going to show you some of my favorite van life gadgets. Living comfortably in a van requires some foresight and strategic planning.

Fortunately, we live in a world full of all sorts of practical gadgets that are great for RV or camper van living.

Here are some of my favorite items.

Larq water bottle

1. Larq water bottle

The Larq water bottle is stainless steel. Aside from carrying your water, it also cleans it. It has a UV light inside that sanitizes your water in 30 seconds with just the push of a button.

This is so useful for me when I’m camping or backpacking and I come across a water source. If I’m not sure about the cleanliness, I can just fill my bottle and sanitize the water.

I could even use it to purify water from a clear running stream if I was desperate. It comes with a chord and a USB charging port.

2. Peak waist backpack

If I’m going on a hike and I don’t need to take a lot with me, I love using my Peak waist backpack. It’s nice and compact but it can fit a surprising amount of stuff. I can fit my phone and a headlamp inside.

There’s a pocket in the back that’s great for keys and smaller items. There’s even a carrier that opens up for hanging water bottles. It fits comfortably and is adjustable.

Bamboo cutting board with drawers

3. Bamboo cutting board with drawers

I love the convenience of my bamboo cutting board. It’s slightly elevated to accommodate two small metal drawers that slide out from either side.

You can use the drawers for storing utensils. You can also use them while chopping and preparing food to push aside vegetable scraps or to slide your sliced vegetables off the tray and leave them ready and waiting in the drawers.

It’s got little rubber pads on the bottom so I don’t have to worry about it sliding around. It has a nice sleek design. Any item that provides multiple purposes and conserves space is perfect for van living.

Newsee LED nightlights

4. Newsee LED nightlights

These lights have motion sensors and they can be attached magnetically. I needed new lights that could basically go anywhere and these fit the bill perfectly. They are USB rechargeable and they come with 5 in a pack.

I love that I can stick them anywhere, and they have a very strong magnet so I don’t have to worry about them falling. I like to put them on the outside of the van too.

That way when I’m making my way back to the van in the dark, the motion sensors activate and light my way back to the van.

I even put some inside drawers and cabinets so that I can see inside at night. They turn on when I open the cabinet and turn off when I close it.

Xero shoes hiking boots

5. Xero shoes hiking boots

I love Xero shoes because they are flexible and light. They’re called Xero because they are a minimalist shoe. They do not have any lift or excessive padding. The ones I got are also waterproof.

I love to walk barefoot. Minimalist shoes are great for this because they allow you to still feel the texture of the ground but they protect you from sharp edges and anything that could hurt your feet.

For some reason, wearing heavier shoes tires out my feet more quickly. I find I can cover a lot more ground with a lot more ease in a minimalist shoe.

I found mine at Amazon! I use them in my home, under cabinets, in my pantry, but love your idea of using them outside around my camper at night!! Thanks!
