How to DIY 5 Natural Cleaning Products for Only $1.38
Today, I'm going to show you how I make 5 homemade cleaning products for only $1.38.
These DIY natural cleaning products are so easy to whip up at home, and they are incredibly affordable—saving you tons of money at the grocery store and online.
The best part is that none of the recipes on my list have any harsh chemicals or mystery ingredients in them, making them all-natural cleaning products that you can trust.
1. Homemade all-purpose cleaner
We're going to start with my homemade all-purpose cleaner. I am listing the ingredients in the order that you want to put them in the bottles so that they rinse out of the funnel for you.
I'm going to start by heating up the water in the microwave so that it helps everything dissolve.
Next, add one teaspoon of Borax.
Then, I need half a teaspoon of washing soda.
I add in one teaspoon of dish soap.
Lastly, I pour in the warm distilled water.
My favorite part about glass spray bottles, besides the fact that they spray so well, is that you have the measurements on the side.
After my homemade all-purpose cleaner is mixed, I like to add some kind of citrus scent to it. I really love bergamot. I didn't even know what bergamot was until I received this essential oil, but it smells so good.
You'll add about fifteen drops and then give it a good shake when you're ready to clean.
Just remember, if you're going to use this for any kind of stone surface, you want to leave the citrus essential oil out.
2. Homemade degreaser
Let's make my homemade degreaser next. This can also be used as a soap scum remover.
It's basically a one-to-one ratio of dish soap to vinegar. So I start by adding eight ounces of dish soap.
Then, I add eight ounces of vinegar.
For the shower, add fifteen drops of melaleuca essential oil. For the kitchen, add fifteen drops of citrus essential oil instead.
Give this a good shake right before you need to use it.
If you have a really oily mess around your kitchen, what I would do is spray all surfaces with the degreaser and let it work its magic, breaking down the grease for a few moments then rinse it all off after that.
Follow up with the all-purpose cleaner and a good microfiber cloth.
3. Homemade disinfectant
The most important recipe for us right now is my disinfectant.
It starts with a quarter cup of white vinegar, which is two ounces.
Next, add a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol, which is another two ounces.
Then, add one and a quarter cups of distilled water, which is ten ounces, so this will go to the fourteen-ounce line on your spray bottle.
Lastly, add fifteen drops of essential oil to create a nice scent.
When I clean my bathroom, I use the all-purpose cleaner first to get rid of all the residue from toothpaste, soap, or hairspray.
Then, I use the disinfectant afterward, letting it sit for several minutes to kill viruses and bacteria.
Be sure to spray it on your toilet seat, sink, door handles, light switches, and remotes, and let it sit between four to ten minutes before you wipe it off.
4. Homemade glass cleaner
My disinfectant actually works pretty well as a glass cleaner but the glass cleaner is half the price so why not save more?
It’s made with two tablespoons of white vinegar.
Plus, two cups of distilled water.
Then, you can add any kind of citrus essential oil which makes it smell great, especially because it has vinegar in it.
5. Homemade toilet bowl cleaner
Now we're going to make my toilet bowl cleaner. The reason why I love this toilet bowl cleaner recipe so much is because it's a thick solution so when you squirt it around your toilet, it actually sits there and does its work to kill bacteria.
It starts with a half cup of baking soda.
Next, I'm going to add a quarter cup of dish soap.
I need a quarter cup of hydrogen peroxide.
And then, I need one-half cup of distilled water.
Lastly, I add fifteen drops of melaleuca essential oil.
Natural cleaning products
So there you have it. These are five DIY natural cleaning products that you can make for yourself for only $1.38. Each of my recipes is super easy to follow and includes safe ingredients you already have at home.
