Next, clean all the flat surfaces. This means all the countertops, tables, and floors. Visual clutter decreases productivity and motivation and can make you more anxious. It’s time to clear it all away. All the dishes, all the piles, and all the ingredients you are using need to find a home.
The third step is conquering the dishes. Wash them by hand or empty and refill the dishwasher, just make sure the sink is clear and empty.
Next, take out the trash. It’s easy to get lazy and keep pushing it down and shoving more in there, but the kitchen will feel much cleaner if you have an empty trash can.
Wipe down all the surfaces. This shouldn’t take more than a few seconds since everything is already cleared off. You can also take the time to wipe down appliances so you can have a shiny, clean kitchen.
In addition to wiping down surfaces, wipe down your sink as well, for step six. A beautiful shiny sink makes all the difference.
