Bathroom Organization Ideas for Small Bathrooms

If you live in a small home as we do, these bathroom organization ideas will help you keep your space clutter-free. We live in a fairly small home with a very tiny bathroom. Having a tiny bathroom wouldn’t be that bad if we had several bathrooms, but we don’t. We have one tiny bathroom.

Bathroom Organization Ideas

And, as if that isn’t bad enough, our tiny bathroom is also home to the cat box and the washing machine. Now, you can see why I really need to be organized!

Of course, the first thing that you need to do to get organized is to declutter the space you’re working in. So, if you haven’t already decluttered your bathroom, you should do that first.

How do you organize a small bathroom?

As I mentioned, the first step is to declutter. So, go through the shelves, cabinets, medicine chest, etc. and remove anything that has expired or you won’t use.

You probably have a few lipsticks you bought and realized you didn’t like. Or, a few face creams that expired years ago. Toss them.

After that, decide what really needs to stay in the bathroom. Do your cleaning products need to be in the bathroom or can you store them with the rest under the kitchen sink?

Does your makeup need to be in the bathroom or can you keep it in the bedroom and apply it there? Does that decorative basket really need to be on top of the sink?

Go through the room with a critical eye. One of the most important bathroom organization ideas I can offer is to declutter.

Next, decide how you will store the things that really need to be kept in the bathroom. Remember, clear surfaces are much easier to clean than cluttered surfaces.

Be sure that everything is in its place. If you need to, you may want to install a shelving system or over the toilet cabinet.

How do you organize bathroom toiletries?

There are so many bathroom toiletries that need to be organized in my home! We have body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, cosmetics, face creams, body lotions and more! Yikes, it can get crazy!

So, the first step is to determine what needs to be in the bathroom again. Keep only the toiletries you’re using right now in the bathroom. You can keep the extra bottles in the linen closet until you need them.

Small cosmetics and tubes of eye cream can easily be stored in a makeup bag. If you have room, keep it in the bathroom drawer.

If not, keep it in the bedroom and bring it when you get ready in the morning. A small sink or tub shelf can organize the things you use regularly. There are lots of bathroom organization ideas for makeup on Pinterest.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not fond of bottles of toiletries all around the edges of the bathtub. Instead, each person has a plastic bucket containing all their bathroom toiletries.

Everything is in one place. So, when it’s bath time, grab your bucket, and you’re all set. Plus, if anything is wet from the shower, it won’t damage your shelves.

Or, a simple wicker basket on a shelf works wonderfully to keep everything in one place.

If you live in a small home as we do, these bathroom organization ideas will help you keep your space clutter free.

How do I organize my bathroom countertop?

I’m a big fan of clear surfaces. But, if you must or want to keep things on your bathroom countertop, keep it organized. You should store similar things together.

So, group the washcloths into one small basket. Then, put the hand soap and the body lotion dispensers together in another spot.

Keeping the toothbrushes and soap up off the sink top will help keep the mess at a minimum.

How to store towels in the bathroom

Towels are one of the things that take up the most room in the bathroom. And, since not everyone has a linen closet storing them can be a challenge.

Of course, having towel racks is a definite plus because you can store several. But one of my favorite bathroom organization ideas is to roll up your towels to save space and store them in a basket.

So, I hope a few of these bathroom organization ideas will help you get your bathroom in a more manageable state.
