13 Easy Organizing Tips for a Neater Office

If you are looking for design and organizing tips, you are in the right place.

Today, I want to show you how my office is organized and share some home organization tips, and I hope you will find some of the strategies I use to organize my space useful for yours, as well.

Craft box

1. Entryway footwear basket

A basket with shoes right by the door makes it easy for us to grab some flip-flops or sandals when we run out to get the mail or throw out the garbage.

2. Subdivide small items

The box above usually goes in my credenza and contains my daughter’s small art supplies. Since they are so small, subdividing them makes them easier to find and access.

The dividers made it possible to stand the paint tubes upright, as well as contain a blade collection, sharpeners, erasers, and charcoal.

3. Look for free organizing solutions

Most of the dividers within this box were actually repurposed from a box of teabags. I used a piece of cardstock, which I also obtained from a box of tea, to create a side divider for colored pencils. Anything resembling a drawer divider, box, or bin can be repurposed into the perfect organizing solution.

4. Micro-organize when needed

It made sense to micro-organize the box to the right of this box because it contains a lot of smaller items. In the meantime, the one on the left contains all larger items that are still easy to find even while stacked on top of each other, and therefore there is no need to organize any further.

5. Half-way home when undecided

A separate cabinet contains more of my daughter's art supplies. My daughter does not want to decorate with these anymore, but she is not quite ready to part with them yet.

Designating a halfway home for items you are indecisive about parting with is a great option that will not force you to make difficult decisions right away.

6. Use broom hooks when needed

Across from the credenza and hutch is my daughter's art easel on the wall. For any large items that are awkward to store, a broom hook can be an excellent solution if any part of the item can fit within its mechanism.

7. Organize by size

My daughter's art supplies are organized by size throughout the credenza and hutch. Organizing items by size can be the perfect solution even for the least organized person. You simply need to look for the item where it logically fits.

Sewing supplies box

8. Use tackle boxes for small items

This bottom drawer contains my sewing supplies. Underneath my laminating machine, I have my tackle box of small sewing supplies. Use tackle boxes when you have a lot of small items to organize.

9. Use cardstock for label slots

Moving on to my labeling supplies, I like to use cardstock to back printed labels when an organizer has a slot to slide in a label. I keep it together with report covers for my daughter.

10. Designate a space for organizing supplies

On the lower shelf of the cabinet I store organizing products. You should always set aside organizing products you are not currently using, as our organization systems can require changes with lifestyle changes. It is very helpful to have these on hand when our systems need changing.

Neat wires

11. Use cord ties

In the top drawer here, I store the cards to my Cricut machine and my printer. I use cord ties to keep cords nicely contained. Next to that is the tripod to my ring light and the remote which belongs to it, as well as a flexible cell phone tripod.

12. Purchase AC adapters whenever possible

Then in this larger section here, I contain my label maker cord. I recommend purchasing a cord for a device whenever you can as this saves you from having to constantly purchase, replace and store batteries.

13. Use clear label tape

This is also where I store my favorite Brother P Touch label maker tape. For me this version of tape is the most versatile as the clear tape looks most aesthetically pleasing as opposed to white tape on non-white surfaces.
