Today, I'm going to share with you how to make air fryer donuts with biscuit dough. I love donuts and I love my air fryer so air fryer donuts seemed like a win for me. One can of buttermilk biscuits gives you eight doughnuts and eight donut holes.

Canned buttermilk biscuit dough

1. Cut the biscuits

Use a can of regular buttermilk biscuits. Canned biscuits are found in the refrigerated section and are dough that’s cut into individual biscuits.

Open the package and separate each one. I used a clean medicine measuring cup to cut a hole into the middle of each one. I just pushed the cup down until it cut through the dough. I saved the middle section that I had cut out of each biscuit to make donut holes.

2. Place the biscuits in the air fryer

I placed the cut-out biscuits on a pan in the air fryer. I had mine set at 325, and I put it on for ten minutes. I checked them after a few minutes and flipped them, and then let them finish cooking for another few minutes.

Ingredients for the donut glaze

3. Make the glaze

My glaze was a little darker than it should have been because I accidentally added too much vanilla. The recipe for the glaze is four tablespoons of skim milk, two tablespoons of melted butter, two cups of powdered sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla.

I didn’t measure the vanilla and poured too much so it looks a little darker than what it normally would look. I covered the donuts in the glaze.

Coating the donut holes with sugar and cinnamon

4. Coat the donut holes

I have a cinnamon sugar blend I used on the donut holes. Cook the donut holes like the regular donuts in the air fryer. Place them in the air fryer at 325 for a few minutes until they’re lightly browned.

Then melt a tablespoon of butter in a small bowl and dunk each donut hole into the butter to lightly coat each one. Then put the donut holes into a ziplock bag with the cinnamon sugar mixture and shake them up to coat them.

If you want to use the glaze on them, cook the plain donut holes first, then use a teaspoon to dunk each one in the glaze so it gets fully coated.

I found these so easy to make. I'm going to let my older kids, who are just learning to cook, make these next time. I will note that I use my air fryer so often and am always finding new recipes, so I am going to invest in a bigger one.
