The 15 Worst Things to Buy at Dollar Tree Now Prices Have Gone Up
Liz Fenwick is a leader in the DIY and crafting space. And she says there are 15 items you should no longer buy at Dollar Tree now that their prices have recently gone up. To help you avoid any purchasing mistakes, she’s sharing the 15 worst things to buy at Dollar Tree and where you should start buying them instead.
The first thing Liz points out for things not to buy at Dollar Tree is the basic solar lights. According to Liz, you can find the exact same items at Dollar General, and they’re priced at only $1.00. However, the specialty solar lights with decorative features do remain on her list of what to buy at Dollar Tree because they’re still a pretty good deal.
Strangely enough, the best things to buy at Dollar Tree nowadays do not include Dawn dish soap, Ramen noodles, Betty Crocker baking mixes, or Pillsbury Funfetti cupcake mixes. All of these items may look inexpensive, but they can be purchased for much cheaper at Walmart when you compare their price per ounce.
What should you not buy at Dollar Tree because it’s not BPA-free? Liz says to skip the Betty Crocker brand of plastic food storage containers for that reason.
Moreover, some of the worst things to buy at Dollar Tree include headphones, charging cords, and tools because they’re super low-quality, and you’re better off buying these items from Amazon.
School supplies, however, can sometimes be the best deal at Dollar Tree and sometimes not. Depending on the time of year, school supplies can be cheaper at Target or Walmart. So, you want to check prices before you shop.
The last items that qualify as the worst things to buy at Dollar Tree according to Liz include off-brand toys, candles, foam brushes, zip lock bags, and glassware.

Candles. I find a lot of nice glassware at Goodwill. I guess it depends if you are shopping for adults or children. With children, you would want the very thick glassware like you showed Dollar Tree has. For adults like me, I like different shapes, sizes and eras of glassware I find at my Goodwill store. They do vary like at the Dollar Tree stores. Many times I haven't been able to find suggested items at my Dollar Tree or they will be a variation.
