Take a Look Inside This Incred-I-Box Tiny Home

Karen has purchased and moved into a tiny house called an “Incred-I-Box” - an 8x16-foot structure, situated in a mobile home park near Tucson. Karen customized it to her own preferences and made a real home out of it.

Here's the full Tiny House Expedition tour:

However, Karen’s path to this was definitely not simple. In 2017, she took out a 20k loan and paid a builder to build her a tiny house, and he went out of business. It took her 3.5 years to pay the money back to the credit union, but she never gave up on her dream and ended up living in a tiny house after all.

The Incred-I-Box comes absolutely bare: it consists of metal panels held together by rivets and screws. Karen added 29-gauge AG steel roofing panels to the exterior, built shutters, a planter box, a picket fence siding, and even built a staircase and stools for outdoor seating.

Karen also created a lot inside the house: for example, she built a sliding spice cabinet and repurposed an extra countertop piece to create a computer desk area. Her house is bright and full of light, and as a minimalist, she only keeps the things she uses in her everyday life.

Financially, Karen's decision to downsize to a tiny house once her children were out of the house has been beneficial. The house was $20k, and Karen pays $399 a month in rent, plus utilities. There is a 50-amp power hookup, water, and sewer services available at the mobile home park.

In the past, Karen has lived in two other mobile homes, which were both bigger, but she finds the 128-square-foot house perfect for her needs and her finances.

I don’t often comment on these but I really admire what you did yourself! Well done! I also considered this in AZ from CA but my decision was I couldn’t deal with indoor living with the heat so I sold everything and moved to Hawaii. Buying a real fixer now that I am using my rehab skills to make my forever home. Best of luck to you. Nice job!!
