Can I ask you a question?

Just between us?

Do you think I use the word “amazing” too much?

You can tell me the truth.

I can take it.

I’m a little worried, myself. At last count, I think there were 56 “amazings” on my social media yesterday. I go to type something and the word amazing flows off my fingertips onto the screen.

I can’t help it. It’s such a great word because it sounds like the verbal equivalent of an exclamation point.

But I am a writer. I’m supposed to have a bigger writing vocabulary. I’m supposed to branch out and expand my word horizons. So today? I found 41 synonyms for “amazing” including: prodigious, astonishing, awe-inspiring, beautiful, breathtaking, daunting, fantastic, formidable, imposing, impressive, inspiring, magnificent, majestic, moving, overwhelming, striking, stunning, stupefying, wonderful, awesome and wonderous.

And I actually plan on using every single one in conversation.

Looking for a few stupefying spring decor ideas?

Here’s a little flower distraction for you today with creative ideas and simple tips on how to decorate with flowers using things you have around the house.

9 Budget-Friendly Flower Decorating Ideas

1. Fill a basket with flowers

This is a magnificent flower decorating idea.

Just fill a hanging basket.

I just bought one of these at Magnolia Market down in Waco.

I tucked a tiny vase in the bottom of the basket, filled it with water and added flowers.

Simple decorating tip: if you have a basket like this that doesn’t hang? Just knot a rope and tie it through the back.

2. Fill a watering can with flowers

You probably have one of these sitting outside in your garden shed or back porch right now.

It’s been waiting for spring to arrive.

Add a small vase or mason jar to the inside of the can and fill with flowers.

Doesn’t it look prodigious?

3. add an embroidery hoop for height

Embroidery hoops aren’t just for needlework any more.

Here, I used the hoop to wrap greenery around to give this breathtaking arrangement height.

Here’s how to create this arrangement using a few simple tips and a shopping trip through your sewing closet.

4. keep it simple

Sometimes all it takes is one astounding flower to make a small difference.

I painted the back of this bookcase Naval SW 6244 and added milkglass and ONE tiny vase of flowers.

Sometimes one simple vase makes more of a statement than a symphony of flowers.

5. Fill a toolbox

This arrangement literally takes five minutes.

Yep.

Five heart-stirring, incredible minutes.

All you need is a random assortment of bottles and a grocery store bouquet.

Add the flowers to the bottles and fill the toolbox and your arrangement is ready for spring.

6. Fill a dough bowl

This is just a simple dough bowl that I filled with this breathtaking arrangement jasmine.

It smells like spring just pulled a seat up to the table.

I found these at Trader Joe’s and they come in pots, so they lasted for about a month. Just make sure you put plastic liners down before you add the pots.

decorating tip: decorate with pots of flowers for spring instead of cut flowers to make your arrangements last longer.

7. Peony and hydrangea arrangement

Y’all.

I have a extraordinary announcement.

It’s almost peony season.

Yes.

My favorite flower on the planet. Just curious. How do you say peony?

This is how I say it.

However you say it—peonies and hydrangeas create an amazing flower arrangement.

See my four simple rules for creating an arrangement like this here.

8. make your own wood twig vase

All you need for this project is a glass vase and some twigs from the yard.

See the instructions here.

It’s a phenomenal idea for a fantastic flower arrangement.

9. make coffee filter roses

I added this last one in case you couldn’t get out to get flowers.

No worries friend. I got you.

You can make these flowers with the remarkable coffee filters from your pantry.

See all the instructions here.

I did it.

I made it through the post without an overabundance of amazings.

It was hard. It was tough. It was vocabulary-challenging. But I expanded my vernacular today.

But truth?

I wouldn’t want to live in a world without amazing and I think we could all use a little more of it right now….

…along with a few of its stupefying synonyms. 🙂
